Licensed Veterinary Technician – Neurology 
  
The Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is an AAHA accredited 24-hour Emergency/Critical Care and Specialty hospital that supports ECC, Neurology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology and Radiology. We offer a collaborative approach to veterinary medicine and pride ourselves on providing compassionate medical care and exceptional customer service. 
  
Pay: $27-$38 (Up to $41 for applicants with a VTS) 
  
Shifts Available: (Wed-Sat 9am-7:30pm) (Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri 9am-7:30pm)

Role Responsibilities, Skills, and Knowledge 
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients. 
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, accurate, and comprehensive medical records, including relevant history taking.  
  • Assisting doctors with neurological examinations while demonstrating proper handling and restraint of patients with neurological disorders.  
  • Understanding the basic principles of seizure control, familiarity with the different medications used to treat epilepsy and be able to recognize/address seizure activity.  
  • Able to recognize changes in mentation and alert the DVM.  
  • Produce diagnostic thoracic and spinal radiographs. 
  • Aseptic preparation of surgical site and sterile opening of surgical instruments. 
  • Sterile preparation of cerebral spinal fluid tap site and aseptic technique for CSF sample collection. 
  • Calculating and administering analgesic CRI under the direction of DVM. 
  • Anesthetic induction and monitoring for MRI’s and surgical procedures with or without use of a mechanical ventilator. 
  • Catheter placement and maintenance: peripheral, central, arterial, and urinary.  
  • Ability to perform CPR according to RECOVER Initiative standards. 
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and support fellow team members.
