Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center, located in Round Rock, TX, is currently seeking a full-time Clinical Staff Manager to join our team!
  
Our Practice
We are an AAHA-accredited, Fear Free Certified, full-service, 24/7 hospital, with dedicated doctors providing high-quality medical care to the companion animal population in Round Rock, Austin, and surrounding areas. We provide specialty care in the departments of: Emergency, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Dentistry & Oral Surgery. We partner with an on-site Cardiologist 2 days a week and have an ultrasound (performed with a sonographer and reviewed by a radiologist) available Monday-Saturday.
 
Role Responsibilities
The Heart of Texas Clinical Staff Manager leads a team of specialty and emergency veterinary technicians/assistants, department leaders, technician assistants, and patient care liaisons. This leader will engage, coach, and empower their team in development of clinical knowledge and skills, resolving customer service concerns, and will tackle various initiatives to provide the best patient care and customer service experience. 
  • The fundamental responsibility of the veterinary clinical staff manager, in partnership with the practice manager and medical director, is to effectively use all available resources to provide the best possible patient care to animals treated/handled by the hospital, as well as to ensure the profitability of the practice. 
  • Serves as member of the Hospital Leadership Team, upholding organizational core values. 
  • Serves as direct supervisor of hospital tech lead team.
  • Recommends policies governing flow and clinical practices.
  • Provides counsel to hospital leadership on hospital team members and staffing needs.
  • Coordinates and conducts in technical staff interviews and selection.
  • Coordinates and outlines on-boarding plan for new team members.
  • Develops and maintains technical team member's training manuals, along with holding department leads accountable for proper implementation of training plan. 
  • Serves as floor manager: Responsible for developing efficiency protocols utilizing knowledge of the functions and requirements of hospital. Advise local leadership team on the formulation and development of corrective actions necessary to improve the effectiveness and profitability of the practice.
  • Reviews completion of clinical team member schedules.
  • Oversees completion and accuracy of time sheet & PTO submissions for assigned hierarchies.
  • Oversees accountability and follow-through of direct report’s assigned duties.
  • Attendance and leadership presence at monthly department meetings.
  • Oversees and manages technical team member coaching & corrective measures with guidance of PM & POP.
  • Oversees team member engagement efforts & assists in bi-monthly all-staff meetings. 
  • Oversees clinical team member's continuing education & licensing documentation.
  • Assists in performance reviews and developing staff goal setting plans.
  • In conjunction with the Inventory & Safety Manager, ensures team members and hospital are operating in compliance with OSHA, DEA, EEOC, ADA, and the Department of Labor.

  • Must be a quick learner and self-starter with the ability to follow through on commitments.
  • Flexibility– responsibilities may expand or change with the business needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem solving and decision- making skills required.
Preferred Experience:  
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience and/or management preferred   
  • 5+ years of veterinary technician experience, with 2+ years in a specialty/emergency setting
  • LVT or VTS preferred
