Veterinary Technician Trainer

Long Beach Animal Emergency is seeking a Technician Trainer to join our team!
The Technician Trainer plays a vital role in developing a highly skilled and compassionate technical team within a fast-paced emergency veterinary hospital. This position is responsible for delivering both academic instruction and hands-on training to ensure staff are proficient in clinical procedures, patient care, and hospital protocols. Working closely with technicians and assistants, the Trainer models exceptional performance, fosters a culture of continuous learning, and upholds Thrive’s core values. This role is essential in maintaining clinical excellence, operational consistency, and a supportive learning environment.
Leading with Your Head

· Engage in active learning by completing all the training courses required, as well as assisting the Practice Manager to ensure the Technician team completes assigned training.
· Support with overseeing daily treatment workflow and proactively address operational challenges to maintain a smooth and productive environment.
· Collaborate with the Medical Director to ensure patient care standards are clearly communicated and effectively integrated into technician training programs.
· Identify and analyze needs for training at the hospital. Partner with Practice Manager to
implement training programs as needed.
· Schedule and organize all technical training meetings, classes, and practical coursework for team members.
· Support current training objectives and organization, while creating and supplementing additional technical training coursework as necessary.
· Write outlines, texts, handouts, tests, and practical exercises as needed for all technical training.
· Administer written and practical exams for technical training and work with hospital leadership to provide updates on technical performance for review purposes.

· Assist in interviews and skill assessments for potential technical staff new hires, at the request of the Hospital Leadership team.
· Assist in the arrangement and provision of technical training for all pertinent staff through multiple forums / modalities / times to maximize exposure to 24-hour staff.
· Support technical staff reviews by providing skill-based assessments and feedback to ensure clarity around performance expectations.
· Provide consistent coaching and mentorship to support team member growth and performance. · Support new team member onboarding for technical staff.
· Model proactive customer engagement, seeking to understand client needs and educating them on best choice for their pets.
· Demonstrate proficient clinical knowledge and communication skills to support team and client interactions.
Key Qualifications:
· The Technician Trainer should possess an RVT and 5+ years of technical experience in a large
hospital setting.
· Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends.
· Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including:
o Ability to routinely lift up to 20 pounds; up to 50 pounds with assistance.
o Extended period of standing, sitting, kneeling, bending, and reaching
o Exposure to clinical environments, including chemicals, infectious diseases, and animals.
Compensation: $32-$35 per hour, based upon experience
