Who we are

At CARE Veterinary Center, we provide 24/7 emergency and specialty care to dogs and cats in the DC metropolitan and the MD, WV, and PA tri-state area. We offer Internal Medicine, Surgery, Rehabilitation, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

We have a highly trained and qualified staff of veterinarians to treat your animals. Our goal is to not do what a primary care veterinarian does but to complement what they do.

We have specialists in a variety of service areas including surgery, orthopedic surgery, internal medicine, sports medicine, rehabilitation, and pain management. Our specialists are available by appointment on weekdays and are always on-call for emergencies.

CARE Veterinary Center is looking for a  Full-Time Veterinary Technician Manager to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community. 

As the Technician Manager, you'll provide high-quality nursing care while guiding and supervising your technician team. You’ll help drive shift efficiency, delegate responsibilities, mentor team members, and maintain a smooth workflow throughout emergency cases and procedures. The Veterinary Technician Manager must lead the team by example, demonstrating strong organizational skills, following company policies, providing necessary communication and having a professional attitude.

Responsibilities:
Supervise technicians and other medical personnel, evaluating performance (introductory and continued 1:1s and reviews), reviewing time reporting, enforcing company policies and communicating new practices and policies regarding technical
duties; participate in selection and discipline of staff.
· Schedule staff according to departmental needs, monitoring and regulating overtime hours worked by staff, ensuring proper coverage in times of shortage.
· Administer on-call schedule as well as standard schedule for staff.
· Monitor that new staff are being trained in their responsibilities; mentor all staff regarding performance and training needs.
· Perform the duties of technician or assistant, as scheduled.
· Liaison with department leads and leadership team regarding patient care and hospital operations; resolve issues, as needed.
o Touch base daily (when scheduled same day) and weekly with Hospital Director to discuss updates and hospital needs
o Attend weekly/bi-weekly Leadership meetings as needed for the hospital
· Oversee cleaning, stocking, and inventory duties. Ensure accountability for the staff that this is being done as a team.
· Exhibit confidentiality and professionalism in all regards for employee issues; be proactive in approach to issue resolution.
· Keep hospital management informed of any issues or risks that might impact operations or employee relations; work with management team to resolve.
· Hospital policies and procedures, including contents of Employee Handbook
· Clinical laboratory procedures
· Medication calculations and administration
· Venipuncture · Catheter placement · Animal restraint · Vital sign monitoring · Client communications · Radiographic technique and anesthesiology · Patient physical assessments · Veterinary environment, terminology, and protocols · Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or the Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician (LVMT) preferred or equivalent experience. · Ensure staff have completed their Trainings in Thrive U and remain up to date. · May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. · Performs other duties as assigned by Manager.
 
Experience & Skills Requirements:
·         5+ years of veterinary technician experience required (Emergency/Specialty preferred)
·         Previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
·         Strong communication and mentoring skills
·         Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
·         Credentialed tech (CVT, LVT, RVT, LVMT) preferred and encouraged to apply

  Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an annual salary starting at $70,000/year. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
