We are currently looking for a veterinary assistant to add to our Equine Ambulatory Department! The ideal candidate will have horse experience and handling.
Veterinary medical experience is preferred.

Schedule:
This is a full-time, day-time position for Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. with our field service team and hospital teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES to be completed under the supervision of a licensed DVM:
- Handle/restrain patients as required
- Assist the veterinarian as needed.
- Perform physical exams according to veterinarian preference.
- Prepare billing for each appointment.
- Complete daily scheduled appointments.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
- Assist in dental procedures.
- Assist in radiographic procedures.
- Restrain for endoscopic procedures.
- Draw and process laboratory samples.
- Fill take-home prescriptions as directed by the veterinarian and in accordance with state regulations.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Participate in the emergency on-call rotation for the large animal hospital, as needed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE and SKILLS
- Recent experience in an equine/mixed animal practice is preferred.
- Horse and large animal handling experience is mandatory
EDUCATION
- Equivalent to completion of 12th grade or above.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Current possesses or ability to obtain a Veterinary Medication Clerk’s license.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Willing to learn new skills and work as directed with some supervision.
- Often requires lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of walking and/or standing for long periods.
- May be required to use strength and/or agility in walking and restraining stronger, more active animals.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Outside work is required.
- Exposure to unpleasant odors and noises as well as bites, kicks and animal wastes.
- Possible exposure to contagious diseases

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $19 - $21 / hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
