Who we are     
At Oxford Animal Hospital, we offer primary care for dogs and cats in Overland Park. We open for same-day appointments Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM– 6:00 PM, and Saturdays 7:00am-12:00pm    
Veterinary Assistant Duties: 
  • Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and procedures.
  • Safely handle and restrain animals for care.
  • Clean and sterilize equipment, exam rooms, and surgical areas.
  • Prepare medications and supplies as directed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and ensure their pets receive compassionate care.
  • Providing compassionate animal care giving to all pets boarding, daycare and/or hospitalized in the facility.
  • Providing courteous customer service when admitting pets to facility and returning pets to clients.
  • Monitoring boarding pets’ behaviors, including eating, drinking, and elimination patterns, to identify potential problems and notifying a supervisor or DVM of concerns.
  • Assisting treatment staff with patient restraint during treatments when requested.
  • Administering medications, orally, topically, and insulin when needed.
  • Providing enrichment and ensuring comfort and well-being of boarding pets through walking, feeding, playtimes, and access to clean blankets and food/water bowls.
  • Bathes boarders.
  • Facilitates socialization of pets through approved supervised playtimes.
  • Assists with maintaining cleanliness of hospital, boarding areas, and grounds.
  • Performs other related tasks as required.
 
Qualifications: 
  • Previous animal care or veterinary experience preferred but not required—training available for the right candidate.
  • Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with animals of all sizes and temperaments.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as part of the regular schedule
