Seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant for a unique role split between Internal Medicine (weekdays) and Emergency (rotating weekends)
Compensation: starting at $18-$20/hour based on skills and experience

At CARE Veterinary Center, we provide 24/7 emergency and specialty care to dogs and cats in the DC metropolitan and the MD, WV, and PA tri-state area. We offer Internal Medicine, Surgery, Rehabilitation, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
We have a highly trained and qualified staff of veterinarians to treat your animals. Our goal is to not do what a primary care veterinarian does but to complement what they do.
We have specialists in a variety of service areas including surgery, orthopedic surgery, internal medicine, sports medicine, rehabilitation, and pain management. Our specialists are available by appointment on weekdays and are always on-call for emergencies.

CARE Veterinary Center is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join us in our Internal Medicine and Emergency departments.
The veterinary internal medicine assistant supports the internal medicine team in providing high-quality care to animals with complex, chronic, or difficult-to-diagnose conditions. This role involves assisting veterinarians and technicians during diagnostic procedures, handling and restraint of domestic animals, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and communicating effectively with team members. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and experienced in a specialty or general practice setting.
Role Responsibilities:
- Assist internal medicine veterinarians and technicians with diagnostics and treatments, including endoscopy, fine-needle aspirates, ultrasound, and CT procedures.
- Prepare and restrain patients for examinations and advanced procedures.
- Collect samples (urine, feces, etc.) and perform or prepare for laboratory testing.
- Ensure all equipment and exam areas are clean, sanitized, and properly maintained.
- Support inventory management of internal medicine-related supplies.
- Collaborate with the broader veterinary team, including technicians and front office staff, to ensure seamless patient care.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
- Veterinary clinic experience, especially in an emergency or specialty setting is strongly preferred but not required
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- CVA encouraged to apply!
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as multi-tasking ability.
- Organized, honest, reliable, flexible, independent
- Proven ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment.

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with a hourly pay rate starting at $18-$20/ hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
