The Job at a Glance
In this role, you’ll help shape and lead the execution of Parts Town’s internal communications strategy, translating company priorities into clear, relevant, and engaging communications for team members across the business.
You’ll serve as a trusted communications partner to leaders and teams across the business, turning complex information into clear, relevant, engaging, and actionable communications. You’ll look beyond the initial request to determine what audiences truly need to know, why it matters, what action they should take, and the best way to reach them.
A key priority will be evolving our channel strategy - particularly how we use Microsoft Teams and our SharePoint intranet - to make important information easier to find, reduce communication noise, and help priority messages break through. You’ll develop thoughtful strategies for multiple audiences, including corporate, remote, and Fulfillment Center team members who may have different communication needs and levels of access.
This is a hands-on manager role. You’ll shape the big picture while also writing, editing, planning, publishing, measuring, and continuously improving the day-to-day communications that bring the strategy to life.
A Typical Day
- Partner with the Director of Marketing Communications to develop the internal communications strategy and own its day-to-day implementation, including planning, content development, channel management, measurement, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a strategic communications advisor to leaders and cross-functional teams, helping clarify objectives, identify audiences, anticipate questions, and determine the right message, timing, channel, and call to action.
- Develop and execute communication plans for company priorities, organizational changes, major initiatives, policies, events, and other important updates.
- Create audience-specific strategies for office, remote, and Fulfillment Center team members, recognizing that different audiences may require different messages, formats, channels, and timing.
- Lead the internal communications approach for Microsoft Teams and continuously improve the SharePoint intranet and overall MS Teams communications strategy, including channel purpose, content organization, navigation, governance, adoption, and the overall team member experience.
- Create flyers, digital signage, graphics, toolkits, and other internal materials that promote company initiatives, increase awareness, and make it easy for team members to understand and take action.
- Evaluate the full channel mix - including email, Teams, SharePoint, newsletters, town halls, digital signage, video, texting, and other forums - to reduce duplication and noise, address gaps, and improve reach, relevance, and engagement.
- Write and edit company announcements, newsletters, leadership communications, Teams and intranet content, presentations, talking points, FAQs, scripts, and other materials that are clear, concise, accurate, engaging, and unmistakably Parts Town.
- Translate complex business information into useful, actionable communications that explain what is changing, why it matters, what team members need to know, and what they should do next.
- Support leaders with town halls, company meetings, videos, speeches, presentations, announcements, and other communications that help them connect authentically and effectively with team members.
- Own the internal communications editorial calendar and related intake, planning, review, approval, and publishing processes, prioritizing competing requests based on business importance, audience needs, timing, capacity, and communication volume.
- Proactively identify communication gaps, channel enhancements, emerging needs, new tools, and process improvements. Bring forward practical recommendations and independently drive approved initiatives from planning through completion.
- Support the adoption of AI, digital tools, and new ways of working through communication campaigns, educational content, practical resources, and team member success stories.
- Gather feedback and analyze channel and campaign performance through surveys, stakeholder conversations, focus groups, and analytics. Use those insights to improve content, channels, and strategy.
- Maintain high standards for accuracy, accessibility, brand alignment, and quality by verifying information and testing links, processes, and the full team member experience before distribution.
- Perform any other duties needed to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and support our Core Values.
To Land This Opportunity
- You have 8+ years of experience in internal communications, marketing communications, corporate communications, or a related field.
- You have experience helping shape internal communications strategy and translating it into thoughtful plans, high-quality deliverables, and measurable results.
- You have meaningful experience using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint as strategic communications channels - not simply publishing content within them.
- You have a strong eye for visual storytelling and communication and can create engaging, on-brand internal materials. Experience with Canva is a plus.
- You understand how to build an effective channel mix, establish clear purposes for different channels, reduce duplication, and help important messages reach the right audiences.
- You have experience communicating with multiple team member audiences. Bonus points for experience supporting a large, distributed, frontline, manufacturing, or fulfillment-center workforce.
- You’re an exceptional writer and editor who can make complex information clear, concise, relevant, engaging, and actionable across audiences and channels.
- You know that accurate copy is only the starting point. You instinctively consider what is most important, what the audience needs to understand, why the message matters, and what action someone should take.
- You’re a proactive self-starter with strong business judgment who can work through ambiguity, ask thoughtful questions, find answers, identify missing information, and keep initiatives moving without extensive supervision.
- You can shape the big picture while rolling up your sleeves to execute the details - from strategy and stakeholder alignment through drafting, publishing, measurement, and follow-through.
- You can respectfully challenge a request and recommend that a communication be changed, combined, delayed, redirected, or not sent when that best serves the audience and business.
- You have strong interpersonal, organizational, and project-management skills and can influence stakeholders across functions, locations, and leadership levels while managing competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- You use data, feedback, and audience insights to evaluate communications and make practical recommendations for improvement.
- You’re interested in AI and emerging workplace technologies and can help team members understand, adopt, and use new tools confidently and responsibly.
- You’re willing and able to travel a few times each year for internal meetings, company events, and team member engagement activities.
- Bonus points if you have earned a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, business, marketing, or a related field.
