INTERN, PROCESS SCIENCE – ANALYTICAL (ONSITE)

POSITION SUMMARY  

The Analytical Process Science subgroup are subject-matter experts who specialize in the development of methods for the analysis and characterization of commercial drug substance and drug product. This position is primarily a lab-based role which requires hands-on execution of analytical continuous improvement experiments related to high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) methods in a non-GMP environment.  This internship is a full-time and onsite position and has a term of 8 – 12 weeks. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develops an understanding of Analytical Process Science methods and responsibilities. 
  • Completes an Analytical Life Cycle Management project related to HPLC development. 
  • Supports Analytical Process Science routine testing. 
  • Practices good documentation. 
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with staff scientists and other summer interns. 
  • Provides updates on project progress in weekly Analytical Process Science group meetings. 
  • Presents Intern project at the end of the summer to the Analytical Process Science department. 
  • Adheres to all applicable regulations and requirements including compliance with internal SOPs, GMP, Health and Safety, WISHA/OSHA, regulatory compliance, company policies, and employment-related laws and statutes. 
  • Successfully completes all mandatory Quality and Compliance training within required timeframes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES  

Required: 

  • 2+ years of college chemistry lab experience. 
  • Aptitude for working independently as well as part of a team. 
  • Curious and passionate about science 
  • Excellent soft skills including a bias towards action, the ability and willingness to give and receive constructive feedback, is comfortable working within a diverse team, exhibits a consistently constructive attitude, and is adaptable and at ease with handling unexpected challenges. 
  • Solid English language communication skills, both oral and written, are required for this highly collaborative role. Willingness and ability to clearly express opinions and ask questions.  Comfortable actively participating in cross-functional meetings. 
  • Proficient software skills essential including Word and Outlook; ability and willingness to quickly adopt other job-specific applications will be necessary. 

 Preferred: 

  • Experience with analytical HPLC/UPLC (SEC and HILIC). 
  • Experience with PowerPoint and SharePoint. 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION  

Required: 

  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year college program, majoring in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or related area. 
  • Successful completion of sophomore year of undergrad education, including majority of general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biology series, and intends to continue education in the Fall. 

Preferred: 

  • Successful completion of an Analytical Chemistry course with lab. 
  • Experience with chromatography and/or other analytical methods in a research laboratory.

Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time. Your salary will vary depending on several factors including your qualifications and experience. No relocation or housing is provided for this internship.
