SANITATION SUPERVISOR (ONSITE)

POSITION SUMMARY

Partner Therapeutics’ Plant Services Team is responsible for performing all levels of cleaning from specialized disinfecting/sanitizing in the Manufacturing and Production support areas as well as housekeeping of administrative and common spaces at PTx’s biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Lynnwood, WA. Work performed in the GMP spaces is completed per Standard Operating Procedures (“SOPs”) and in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practice (“cGMP”) guidelines.  

 

  • Shift: Monday through Friday - 4:00 pm - 12:30 am
  • Compensation: $72,000 - $95,000 (DOE) plus bonus
  • PTO – 3 weeks of vacation, plus an additional 14 paid holidays and sick time

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional:

  • Ensures department’s routine objectives are completed and verified each shift.
  • Ensures department training plans are effective, escalating discrepancies to People Leader.
  • Ensures Direct Reports are trained on assignments and techniques per SOPs.
  • Adapts cleaning schedules to meet Manufacturing Production needs and changes.
  • Applies knowledge of procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment to the cleaning process. Reviews, collaborates, and recommends revisions to cleaning SOPs as needed, and leads the continuous improvement of facility sanitation.
  • Maintains aseptic conditions in all environmentally controlled (clean room) areas according to specific instructions, cGMP guidelines, SOPs, and safety rules.
  • Ensures all public-use areas are clean, tidy, and sanitized on a daily basis.
  • Backfills for Sanitation Technicians on an as-needed bases (fill in for short term absences, special project cleans, etc.).
  • Orders and maintains cleaning equipment and sufficient supplies for cleaning responsibilities.
  • Reviews and signs off on all cleaning records ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and legibility per applicable SOPs. Reports discrepancies observed by team or self into the system of record (AMS) per SOP.
  • Works cross functionally with internal customers and responds quickly to special cleaning requests.
  • Ensures the safety and efficiency of staff via frequent shift in-person checks-ins, observed work performance, and proper use of required PPE.
  • Participates in the development and prioritization of the Company’s/Site’s Life Cycle Management Plan. 
  • Resolves “stuck” issues by ensuring timely escalation to Leadership and cross-functional teams: Applies learning from these events and leads the creation of new/updated systems, processes, programs to prevent similar situations in the future. 
  • Adheres to all applicable regulations and requirements including compliance with internal SOPs, GMP, Health and Safety, WISHA/OSHA, regulatory compliance, company policies, and employment-related laws and statutes. 
  • Successfully completes all mandatory Quality and Compliance training within required timeframes. 
  • Through self-education and external networking/participation in industry and professional organizations keeps abreast of current industry trends, compliance requirements, and best-of-class technologies relating to area of responsibility. Actively applies learned best practices, knowledge, and benchmarking to PTx projects and solutions. 
  • Pursues participation or leads project teams outside normal course of work (i.e. “collateral duties”) as they become available to support personal growth, connection, and business needs. 

 

People Leadership:

  • Screens, trains, develops, and retains a team of up to 5 Direct Reports: This team is comprised of both regular, full-time Partners as well as FlexStaff.
  • Ensures capabilities and capacity are in place to effectively deliver on all departmental commitments and performance targets. 
  • Facilitates pre- and post-shift meetings to disseminate information and assignments. Reviews and approves staff timesheets.
  • Manages and develops the performance of direct reports by setting clear goals, provides and seeks timely performance feedback, recognizes and rewards high achievers, and holds team members accountable for underperformance. Leads by example and promotes PTx’s core Values:  Learn, Prepare, Innovate, Collaborate, Lead to continually improve the Quality Culture at PTx. 
  • Builds, develops, inspires, motivates, and leads a diverse, professional team. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of cGMP cleaning requirements in a highly regulated environment (preferably pharmaceutical) required.
  • Proficiency in cleanroom gowning requirements.
  • Knowledge of and experience with PPE and the proper handling and mixing chemicals.
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills are required for this highly collaborative role. Proven ability to make clear, effective, and persuasive presentations within own function. Skilled at leading effective meetings.  
  • Proven skills in authoring and reviewing SOPs, on-the-job-trainings, and other controlled documents.
  • Skilled at managing projects with some oversight. 
  • Resourceful with proven ability to lead, manage and leverage an internal network of stakeholders and team members to plan and resolve issues. Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills required to quickly gain confidence of stakeholders and team members. 
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the proven ability to formulate solutions to propel the organization forward. Possesses strong organizational and prioritization skills to maintain a high level of productivity and priority-setting in order to complete assignments on-time and on-budget. 
  • Possesses a strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency (when necessary) and the ability to work with little day-to-day oversight.  Excellent soft skills including a bias towards action, the ability and willingness to give and receive constructive feedback, is comfortable working within a diverse team and across multiple functions, exhibits a consistently constructive attitude, and is adaptable and at ease with handling unexpected changes and challenges. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Outlook. Ability and willingness to quickly adopt other job-specific applications will be necessary (Quality, asset tracking, and facility management systems such as CMMS/AMS, MasterControl, etc.)

 

Preferred: 

  • Knowledge of and ability to operate and train Direct Reports on the proper use of power and hand tools such as carpet cleaner, floor scrubber, buffer, vacuums, and other specialty tools.
  • Software application experience with PowerPoint and SharePoint.

  • Formal interview training. 
  • Formal people leadership training including development of giving-and-receiving-feedback skills. 

 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6+ years progressively responsible experience in janitorial, facility operations and/or facility technician work.
  • 1+ years in People Leadership role managing multiple direct reports required. People Leadership qualification includes experience in recruiting, making hiring decisions, setting SMART Goals, growing high performers, and addressing performance concerns.     

 

Preferred:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in janitorial, facility operations, and/or facility technician work.
  • 3+ years of People Leadership experience managing multiple direct reports.
  • Experience working in a facilities organization in a cGMP Biotech/Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment or a related highly regulated environment.
  • Trainer-qualified designation preferred.
  • Experience with performing cleanroom cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitization

 

PTx is committed to the principles of competitive and pay equity for all of our Partners. The current pay range for this position is $72,000 - $95,000. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time. Your salary will vary depending on several factors including your qualifications and experience.
