The Manager, R&D/PM Finance is responsible for providing independent and objective oversight for Generic and Sterile R&D Finance. This role provides leadership and direction to the accounting and finance activities for the R&D (AR&D and Formulations), Project Management and Business Development, and Regulatory groups of Generic and Sterile segments. This includes providing financial support and leadership to Finance, Operational, R&D, and Development leaders, playing a key role in establishing and achieving financial objectives and formulating and executing operational strategies. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining reporting mechanism and processes resulting in accurate development costs and performance reporting, in compliance with financial policies, SEC requirements and US GAAP.

 

 

All incumbents are responsible for following applicable Division & Company policies and procedures.

Budgeting, Reporting, and Forecasting

§  Prepare financial models and analysis to support management decision-making.

§  Lead and execute the annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting process for R&D groups (Development, Project Management, Regulatory) by partnering with the appropriate department and functional leaders.  Prepare and participate in the presentation of the plant budget to leadership.

§  Perform, review and oversee plant-level financial and operational reporting; financial statements, variances analysis, budgets and forecasts.

Miscellaneous

§  Assist in the implementation of activities against which performance is tracked and measured.

§  Project Spend analysis – spend vs future returns

§  Monitor compliance with internal controls/SOX processes and consults with internal and external auditors.

Accounting

§  Responsible for monthly/quarterly R&D closing process – spend accruals (development costs, bio-study accruals, filing fees, etc.)

§  Quarterly inter-company charges

§  Build relationships to develop and enhance collaboration with business leaders.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience and  certifications required for the job

§  Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance. 

§  Advanced degree/MBA/CPA/CMA a plus.

§  Minimum of 7 years work experience with a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, planning, general accounting, budgets, forecasting, R&D finance, and internal accounting control.

§  Advanced ERP skills preferred.  JDE, SAP, and Hyperion experience a plus.

§  Experience in pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry a plus.


Knowledge

Proficiency in a body of information required for the job   

e.g. knowledge of FDA regulations, GMP/GLP/GCP, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, etc.

§  Sound working knowledge of GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley and local statutory requirements.

§  Knowledge & understanding of Corp, region/division and plant reporting policies.
