The Opportunity:
The position is responsible for providing advanced tax expertise across corporate and international tax areas while supporting strategic initiatives and ensuring full compliance with Canadian and global tax regulations. This position is also responsible for the associated reporting functions, as well as tax account analysis and reconciliations. This department supports the partnership’s key objectives with the highest standards of conduct without compromise. Honesty, integrity and accountability are essential to our Partnership’s success.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare/review federal, provincial and local income tax returns including related schedules, work papers, and reports;
- Prepare/review federal and provincial tax provisions on a quarterly and annual basis, including related inputs, forecasting, support schedules, work papers, reports, and journal entries;
- Calculate/Review estimated tax payments for tax paying entities;
- Collaborate with Finance and other Operations departments to ensure accurate understanding of systems and business and ensure accurate compliance;
- Manages federal and provincial tax notices and tax inquiries from taxing authorities, interdepartmental and service providers;
- Support tax audits, respond to tax authority inquiries, and maintain accurate documentation;
- Prepare/review tax filings in connection with Pillar 2 global minimum tax;
- Support and maintain tax compliance in connection with global transfer pricing;
- Conduct research related to ongoing tax issues, law changes, and remain current on ASC 740;
- Support external auditors and consultants;
- Work on other tasks and special projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce or related degree;
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years prior experience in corporate income tax provisions and/or compliance;
- Thorough understanding of tax accounting concepts (ASC 740);
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word required;
- Longview, OneSource, SAP, and BPC experience a plus.
- Self-motivated, self-starter, takes initiative, identifies and addresses issues;
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills;
- Detail-oriented with ability to adapt to working on multiple tasks with strict deadlines;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Capable of acquiring knowledge and skills rapidly;
- Assumes personal responsibility for work tasks and professional development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with a tax provision software preferred;
- Experience working with corporate tax preparation software preferred;
