Purpose:

Primary interface between SOL (Barbados) Ltd./ Sol Petroleum (Barbados) SRL and its commercial and lubricants segment; aiding the company in delivering its short and long-term business objectives.

Accountabilities:

         Deliver sales targets (margin, volumes, credit, income, growth targets) for the commercial and lubricants segment, through a structured approach to customer management

         Proactively manage customer credit using key metrics (DSO, % current)

         Identify new business opportunities for commercial and lubricant portfolio enhancements

         Timely implementation of sales plans for assigned customers

         Maintain a sound and trusting business relationship with commercial & lubricants customers

         Design, plan and execute promotional and advertising activities to achieve Sales targets in lubricants

         Manage advertising and promotional budget for lubricants segment within annual targets

         Enhance public and customer knowledge of products and services through marketing and public relations activities such as trade shows and conventions

         Develop lubricants technical knowledge for SOL (BARBADOS) LTD

         Develop value added services e.g. used oil collection and disposal, used oil analysis and technical visits for the lubricants segment

         Extend lubricants knowledge support to new and existing customers, across all segments

         Prepare sales proposals with terms and conditions for new customers; manage contract renewal of existing customers

         Evaluation and feedback of commercial and lubricants segment performance

         Liaising with Operations on inventory (lubricants and fuels) so as to avoid stockouts of key products

         Active participation in BOLD Leadership program and other employee led initiatives from time to time

         Active participation in Sales Funnel type management systems

         Monitor competitor activity within the commercial segment for all products (fuels, lubricants, fuel oil)

         Monitor roll out of renewable energy concerns in Barbados

         Handle customer queries and complaints.  Manage issues to resolution

         Ensure customer’s contractual and operational requirements are maintained, including HSE compliance. (Wet stock management, HSE policy and guidelines)

         Complete routine audit of commercial installations

         Coordinate training workshops for existing and prospecting customers, to aid their development of both product knowledge and housekeeping practices

         Deliver the agreed Brand Management communication for the commercial segment; ensure SOL’s corporate image is safeguarded

         Maintain a keen awareness of developments in the economic and business environment, its impact to the commercial segment and assist in developing adaptive strategies and tactics to ensure maximum business results are maintained

         Prepare rolling quarterly estimates of product demand, with monthly updates, for submission to operations to ensure a timely product replenishment cycle, thus minimizing stock-outs

         Active participation in budget setting activities.

 

HSSE:

General Responsibilities (but not limited to):

         Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Health, Safety and Environmental management

         Maintain relevant HSE logs and documentation

         Identification of and assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations

         Prepare applicable HSE reports as necessary

         Provide assistance and advice on HSE issues to make recommendations to facility management

         Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis

         Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors

         Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSE training

         Observe HSE regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel

         Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in the face of potential resistance

         Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies

         Perform other work-related tasks as required as assigned

         Comply with all Sol and local regulatory HSE procedures and policies.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum BSc degree from a recognised tertiary level institution with 2-3 years relevant work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and Microsoft Office.

Other Competency Requirements:

         Knowledge of the Barbados market and operational methods of people in the area.

         Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite

         Experience in petroleum marketing, with sales experience.

         Numerate with the ability to understand sales and management information reports.

         Able to self-plan, motivate, and deliver results.

         Demonstrates enthusiasm and an attitude to work well with others in teams.

         Excellent interpersonal relationships with the proven ability to manage people.

         Expresses confidence in dealing with customers.

         Understands HSSE management.

         Understands fuels and lubricant pricing.

         Marketing planning and sales execution.

         Demonstrated capability of delivering results and working well with others in teams.

         A keen commercial sense is applied in all decision making.

Other Information:

In addition to basic salary the successful applicant shall receive applicable job grade allowances and be eligible to participate in The Sol Group Pension Scheme and its non-contributory Group Health and Life Insurance Scheme.
