The Opportunity:
The Finance Business Partner is a strategic finance professional who builds trusted relationships with the business, drives engagement and continuous improvement. A proven partner, strong in financial acumen and who respectfully challenges the business, provides insights, analysis and identifies opportunities & risks to generate business value. With a seat at the table, the Finance Business Partner influences & supports the business in identifying, creating, and delivering key strategies and opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Work with Operations and Support Partners:
- Provide governance and support to operational development plans / teams / projects, ensuring actions are in place to deliver growth while robustly managing gross margin and cost control.
- Drive business engagement through reviews covering financial performance for the relevant areas of the business (both P&L and balance sheet). Proactively highlight and summarize insights into potential improvements/risk in addition to building the strategic mindset of the business.
- Delivery and creation of the overall financial performance package for the responsible business including gross profit and expense drivers on a monthly / quarterly / annual basis.
- Meet financial reporting responsibilities ensuring, budgets and forecasts are robust and aligned with the strategic direction.
- Help drive continuous business improvement by pro-actively analyzing operational results and identifying key business / market trends and opportunities.
- Leading collaboration between cross functional teams to achieve desired outcomes in support of Parklands goals.
- Support and drive the annual operating budget process which includes Capital spend details, ranking projects by strategic priority and expected return.
- Engage in business case analysis for investments, divestures, acquisitions, and initiative outcome reviews.
- Support and drive activities related to acquisition, implementation, and major financial projects.
- Ad Hock data, analysis, and reports as needed.
- Month end activities and deliverables to uncover reasons for (whys) within the profit and loss statement.
- Bring an entrepreneurial mindset to the role, understanding how a business generates revenue, being aware of specific business challenges, and having a better understanding of customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance; as well as an Accounting, Finance designation
- 7+ years of related experience.
- 5+ years in applicable business partnering roles supporting operations management.
- Strong communication skills – listen, consume & share.
- Strong organizational abilities
- Working knowledge of JDE EnterpriseOne, PDI back-office system, SAP
- Proficient in EPM (Hyperion) Spreadsheet Server, OBIEE Business Intelligence tools.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and Power Point software including Thinkcell
- Proven success in developing relationships across divisional lines and cultivate a collaborative approach to decision making.
- Strong problem solving and investigative mindset.
