The Opportunity:

Are you looking to apply your risk management, audit, and compliance expertise in a fast-paced, dynamic environment? Parkland is seeking a Risk & Controls Analyst to support our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Commercial Assurance, and Compliance functions across our Canadian, US, and International operations.

Reporting to the Manager, Risk & Controls, this role will be instrumental in identifying risks, evaluating controls, and driving process improvements. This role will suit someone with a background in external or internal audit as the Analyst will conduct risk assessments, vendor audits, process walkthroughs and internal control evaluations while partnering with key stakeholders across Parkland.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) initiatives, including risk identification, mitigation strategies and risk monitoring & reporting. 
  • Conduct risk and control assessments, including process walkthroughs and control testing to evaluate Enterprise and Operational risk management processes.
  • Execute vendor audits and commercial assurance reviews to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and internal policies.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements that strengthen operational efficiency and align with industry best practices. 
  • Work with Management to support the remediation of review findings and implement process improvements.
  • Act as a trusted risk advisor, working cross-functionally to enhance risk management, compliance, and governance.
  • Effectively communicate audit and risk assessment outcomes through clear reports and presentations to stakeholders. 
  • Foster strong, professional relationships across Business Units. 

Requirements:

  • University degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field. 
  • Professional designation preferred (CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 4+ years of experience in risk management, internal/external audit, compliance, or controls assessment. 
  • Strong understanding of audit methodologies, enterprise risk frameworks (COSO, ISO 31000), and internal control testing. 
  • Experience in vendor audits and / or internal and external audit
  • Understanding of business process mapping is an asset. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to partner across business units. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office tools. 
  • Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and meet tight deadlines. 
  • While not mandatory, willingness to travel within Canada, the US and the Caribbean is an asset.
