The Opportunity:

 The Space Planning team is a national role and is a key contributor to Parkland’s growth plans for our convenience store network and our On the Run brand. The Space Planning Specialist is focused on further improving the customer experience at Parkland’s Corporate and Dealer sites – a network of 900 stores.  This role will collaborate with various internal stakeholders including Operations, Merchandising, Construction and Marketing. In addition, this team manages relationships with external stakeholders including vendors, and 3rd party merchandising teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize RELEX software, data, and established standards to create store layouts with a strong focus on the customer experience and their journey through the store
  • Apply analytical skills, and software functionality, to maximize category sales to space allocations
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless transition from layout creation, to site level execution, to closing deficiency gaps
  • Review site level feedback and expedite solutions that address site and enterprise goals
  • Maintain a data base to track all layouts and site-specific attributes
  • Oversite and accountability for merchandising activities during initial store set up and refresh projects. Responsible for coordinating 3rd party merchandisers, communicating with vendors, reviewing equipment requirements, and liaising with construction department and other stakeholders
  • Seek opportunities to improve processes and create efficiencies

Requirements:

  • Experience with RELEX Solutions planning platform
  • CAD software or other Space Planning software
  • Undergraduate degree in related fields
  • Creative problem solver able to make sound decisions based on data and standards
  • Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Retail experience
  • Category and/or merchandising experience
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lead and actively contribute to cross-functional teams comprised of peers and supervisors
  • Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and willingness to quickly learn other programs
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Bilingual an asset but not required
