Salary Range: $28.50-$37.25 per hour, based on prior co-op experience and completed academic terms.
The Opportunity:
As a member of the Technical Services team supporting the Refinery, you will work to maintain safe, reliable, and profitable operation of the refinery by overseeing operation of assigned units, troubleshoot issues, support turnarounds and improvement projects.
Processes at the Burnaby refinery include crude distillation, fluid catalytic cracking, hydrotreating, isomerization, catalytic reforming, alkylation, sulfur recovery, energy and utilities, wastewater treatment, and blending and shipping.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure technical support needs are met for Operations, HSE, Maintenance, Facilities Planning and Supply functions.
- Support planned turnarounds and associated turnaround improvements.
- Supporting process hazard analyses, management of change, and investigations processes.
- Developing business cases and facilitating process and project improvements projects.
- Support with development of plant test runs, pressure surveys, coordinating sampling and unit troubleshooting.
Education:
- Must be currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution in the 3rd or 4th year of a bachelor’s degree program in Chemical Engineering.
Requirements:
- You are available for a 12-month term beginning in September 2026.
- Previous Co-op/Internship experience is an asset.
- You have strong interpersonal skills and possess natural leadership as demonstrated in academic and/or extracurricular activities.
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills to enable you to thrive in a highly dynamic work environment.
- You are a creative and analytical thinker with time management skills who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
- You can work effectively with a high degree of collaboration and communication through in-person meetings and video conferences.
