The Opportunity:

The Logistics Co-op student opportunity provides exposure to various business functions, including Logistics, Supply & Trading, Trade Entry and Analysis, Commodity Risk Management, Finance, and Customs Compliance. The successful student will be introduced to the concepts, processes, and roles within Parkland's logistics business, supporting day-to-day activities across different work teams involved in the supply and trading functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform accurate and efficient data entry to support daily operations including BOL (bill of lading) management.
  • Collaborate with teams to review, investigate, and resolve invoice disputes, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Responsible for reconciling accounting exceptions while adhering to vendor payment terms.
  • Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives across various projects.
  • Analyze datasets, perform data clean-up, and provide actionable insights to enhance decision-making.
  • KPI preparation and consolidation across multiple lines of business.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports to support business functions, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Custom clearance data and document validation.
  • Interfacing with internal stakeholders as well as external counterparties including truck and rail carriers.
  • Providing adhoc market and data intel to logistics and trading to assist with deal validation.
  • Assisting with month end processes and closing.
  • Inventory management support.
  • Logistics analyst back/vacation coverage.

Education:

  • Must be enrolled in your school's Co-op program and available for an 8 – 12 month term beginning on or around January 2025.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field at a Canadian post-secondary institution.

Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated leadership experience in academic or extracurricular activities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with excellent time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience managing large volumes of data.
    Proficiency in Excel.
  • Highly analytical thinker with a creative approach to problem-solving, process improvement, and automation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
  • Team player, able to engage and work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Takes an active approach to self development and growth.
  • Exhibits respectful, supportive behaviours towards themselves and others.
  • Self-driven and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work 5 days in-office in downtown Calgary for the duration of the term.
