About the Role 

Under the direction of the Senior Accounting Supervisor, Financial Accounting & Reporting, the successful candidate will support key accounting functions related to the monitoring and accounting of the agency’s investment portfolio and deferred charges, including the analysis, reconciliation and reporting of such financial activity. This position is to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of the investment portfolio’ and the operating deferred assets’ general ledger and the financial reporting processes.  

Responsibilities 

  • Calculating the monthly write-off amounts associated with all deferred charges.   
  • Analysis of Cash and Investments on a monthly basis.     
  • Processing and posting of all market valuation adjustments associated with our investment portfolio.     
  • Processing and posting interest on the Port Authority portfolio on a monthly basis.       
  • Reconciling portfolio transactions that are posted to the Treasury Module by the Treasury Department.    
  • Analyzing and reconciling all activity posted to assigned balance sheet accounts for Port Authority investments and deferred accounts.  
  • Assisting with the Cash and Investment section of the Port Authority Financial Statements.  

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  •       Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Corporate  Finance rom an accredited college or university with a minimum of  1 years of relevant work experience.  
  •       In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience can be accepted. 

 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MS) in an accounting or finance related discipline from an accredited college or university   
  • CPA or CMA  
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information  
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both written and orally 
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment 
  • Demonstrated experience with SAP in Financial Accounting.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey anticipates that the actual salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on aspects such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal factors. The expected compensation range for this role is:​

 ​Minimum: $58,292 Midpoint: $75,796  Maximum: $93,288

 In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits employees to work remotely a maximum of one day per week, subject to operational and business needs.
