About the Role

Under the direction of the Senior Accounting Supervisor, Financial Accounting & Reporting, the successful candidate will provide functional leadership in the Agency’s core financial and reporting systems and act as liaison between the Technology Department, SAP consultants, and Comptroller’s Department end users. This position is to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of the Agency’s general ledger and financial reporting processes

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

 

  • Assist in development and maintenance of GAAP and Statutory financial reports used by management throughout the agency
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the SAP general ledger database by establishing effective monthly, quarterly and yearly closing controls
  • Perform monthly and annual closing and troubleshoot any related issues
  • Create new account codes in SAP
  • Assemble system data to be delivered to external auditors for semiannual and annual audit
  • Assist in providing agency-wide training, guidance and expertise on financial system related issues
  • Perform special assignments such as ad hoc requests for complex information and participate in periodic testing of system enhancements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Corporate Finance from an accredited college or university with a minimum of  3 years of relevant work experience
  • In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience can be accepted

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Demonstrated experience in SAP report writing
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, research and apply accounting theory (GAAP)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both written and orally
  • Demonstrated experience in conveying complex and/or sensitive information throughout the Agency
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey anticipates that the actual salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on aspects such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal factors. The expected compensation range for this role is:​

 

Minimum: $90,012   Midpoint: $117,018   Maximum: $144,014​

 

In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits employees to work remotely a maximum of one day per week, subject to operational and business needs.
