Summer Intern, Roadside Tolling Data Analytics
Description
- Support the continued maintenance of the toll system, which collects approximately $2 Billion annually.
- Review toll collection data and procedures.
- Identify processes for resolving errors in handling violations and in system performance and recommend solutions for mitigating them in the future.
- Report on performance monitoring and analyzing data for possible system issues that will require escalation for resolution.
- Review image capture and quality and system performance.
- Monitor component performance, identify components in need of replacement and verify spare inventory utilization.
- Collaborate on efforts to increase revenues via Toll Technology by performing various system audits to identify issues and generate reports.
- Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
- Major in Data Science/Analytics, Computer Science, Operations, Transportation, or related discipline
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience in summarizing results of analyses.
- PC proficiency with experience in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
- Strong research, analytical and organization skills.
- Ability to gather data, perform process analysis, and provide recommendations.
- Strong time-management skills and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated productivity in a team environment.
- Knowledge of toll systems and/or Backoffice operations is a plus.
- The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026
- The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026
- This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
- In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.
