Description
Under the general supervision of the Vice President - Philanthropy and Foundation, the Major Gifts Officer serves as a strategic partner to meet the organizations fundraising and community partnership goals. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with our donors, securing funds, and reporting back on how much financing you have been able to generate. You should also form strategic partnerships within our organization to promote its objectives. Oversight and management of activities as they relate to Palomar Health Foundation's endeavors to secure annual donations from employees, volunteers and external constituents such as grateful patients and other individuals who would have an affinity/affiliation to support Palomar Health. Primarily work towards securing gifts between $25 and $4,999 on an annually renewable and upgradeable basis. Assist with the creation of an annual fund business plan and budget to support the plan, attend meetings/planning sessions, preparing materials for the presentation of annual fund gift asks. Development of strategic plans for individual donors, donor acquisition, renewal, and reactivation of lapsed donors to build a pipeline of major gift prospects that is in alignment with Palomar Health and Palomar Health Foundation's strategic objectives. Development and oversight of all solicitation letters, brochures, and other materials as needed to enhance solicitation and stewardship efforts. Development and execution of a calendar of activities that effectively utilizes all forms of annual giving solicitations including telephone outreach, direct mail, email, online, and personal solicitations. Develop and management of an annual pledge reminder and gift stewardship process. Establishment and maintenance of a tracking procedures and testing methods for all solicitation initiatives and adjust strategies based on results of data analysis. Establishment and refinement of performance metric tracking and standard reporting procedures to monitor and communicate impact of program activities on individual donors, donor acquisition, retention, and upgrading.

Ability to travel when required. Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Education: Masters Degree
Minimum Experience: 2 years of experience in fundraising or sales with strong writing skills, relationship-building experience, an aptitude for big-picture fundraising, plus experience with developing and interpreting data analytics
Preferred Experience: Knowledge of Direct Mail/Direct Response and Data Analytics
Experience with Raiser's Edge, other Blackbaud products, or similar fundraising databases
Proven experience in telemarketing, direct mail, face-to-face and internet solicitation techniques
Planning and project management experience
