Description
This is a 100% grant funded or externally funded position, for the duration as funding allows, and may be altered or eliminated contingent on program or alternative funding sources.

Palomar Health operates the hospital-based California Clinical Forensic Medical Training Center, also known as the CCFMTC. The CCFTMC (EM Program) ensures Medical Evidentiary Examinations or Forensic Medical Examinations are conducted in a standard and consistent manner throughout California for victims of child abuse or neglect, child sexual abuse, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, domestic violence, elder or dependent adult abuse, and abuse or assault perpetrated against persons with disabilities. The CCFMTC is responsible to develop and maintain standardized medical evidentiary exam forms, protocols, and training for qualified healthcare professionals performing medical evidentiary exams, including training for law enforcement, prosecutors, and court personnel on how to interpret findings of medical evidentiary exams.

Under the direction of the Director of Forensic Health and Trauma Recovery Center Services, The CCFMTC Clinical Educator Assumes accountability for the assessment of educational needs and develops, implements, evaluates and revises educational programs in area of expertise. Works in collaboration with the CCFMTC Medical Director, CCFMTC Clinical Staff/consultants, and CCMTC management team to create competency-based programs, mentorship, and life-long learning opportunities for CCFMTC training participants. Facilitates orientation to clinical setting, serving as mentor, and preceptor for the CCFMTC. Provides input into the development and implementation of unit, department and divisional goals. Participates in the monitoring, maintenance and review of nursing practice in area of expertise. Communicates, collaborates, networks with and acts as a consultant to other members of the health care or multidisciplinary team regarding education curricula design and evaluation. Participates in quality/process improvement activities and utilizes research and evidence to advance the level of education provided. Evaluates, trials and poses critical questions related to the evaluation and use of current products / technology in the clinical setting, as appropriate to setting. Facilitates and supports the change process. With Director approval, participates in Palomar Health, county, and statewide specialty committees and councils as member, leader or consultant as appropriate to expertise. Collaborates with multidisciplinary partners, participates in department outreach and activities as assigned, and may participate in department continuation programs such as Pathways and Camp Hope America.

CCFMTC Clinical Educator assumes responsibility for the design, implementation and evaluation of clinical orientation and clinical education and in-servicing for the CCFMTC program. Works cross-functionally to ensure clinical staff have the skills and training they need to succeed in their individual roles within the healthcare setting or MDT setting. Facilitates specialty clinical service orientation which incorporates a variety of teaching methodologies (e.g., didactic, simulation, case study, etc.) to ensure CCFMTC customers receive the information and training they need to meet performance standards, maintain regulatory compliance and support quality care for the population they serve. Partners with subject matter experts to devise education programs which encourage amalgamation of knowledge, skill, aptitude, and clinical reasoning of team members per the CCFMTC training requirements. Advocates for innovative learning tactics to assist the learner meet performance expectations, promote engagement and stimulate a positive workplace culture. Continuously evaluates the quality of field orientation, educational programs and courseware employed to further professional clinical skills, patient care methods and best collaboration practices across the appropriate disciplines. Facilitates and supports the change process to meet the needs of organizational directives and learning initiatives. Oversees the application and maintenance process of continuing education (e.g., BRN) for the CCFMTC. Accountable to deliver results on-time and according to the needs of the customer and program. Maintains a strong work ethic, effectively manages competing priorities and accomplishes assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to multitask and stay organized. Responsible for data tracking and reporting for accreditation and grant funding. Possess excellent time management, able to travel frequently throughout the state of California, be flexible, and possess excellent customer service skills. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to work a variable schedule with occasional weekend and evening shifts as determined by departmental and grant needs, required.

Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Job Requirements

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or other education related field of study
Minimum Experience: 2 - 5 years previous experience related
Preferred Experience: 5+ years previous experience-related; worked as a clinical educator
Required Certification: American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider
Verification of live scan filed with state licensing board (if applicable) must be submitted to HR OR new live scan must be completed within 14 days of hire prior to providing direct service
Preferred Certification: Certification in Specialty area of practice or role
Required License: Valid Driver's License
