Primarily responsible for gathering data for the preparation and posting of monthly journal entries that assist in the production of monthly financial statements. Performs analysis of monthly financial results in conjunction with financial analyst and other finance staff. Accountabilities include the production of supplemental spreadsheets that determine the reconciled balances for assigned general ledger accounts. Is the primary contact and liaison to resolve discrepancies between the general ledger and account transactions. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education: High school diploma plus experience.
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in Accounting/Finance
Minimum Experience: High school diploma (or equivalent) with 5 years of accounting/finance experience, and completion of the following 3 college-level courses with a passing grade: Beginning Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, other business/finance course; Associates degree in a business related field with 3 years accounting/finance experience; or 5 years of experience as a full charge bookkeeper; 3 - 5 years Accounting/Finance department experience
Preferred Experience: 5 years Accounting/Finance department experience within the healthcare industry
