Job Summary
Vascular technologists assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of disorders affecting the vascular system. Vascular technologists perform non-invasive vascular exams to assess for vascular disease or disorders. Ultrasound exams performed in our office include venous reflux, DVT, arterial, carotid, and AAA exams. Possible need to assist provider with intravenous laser and ultrasound guided sclerotherapy treatments. Candidate should have advanced knowledge of ultrasound equipment, procedures, and techniques with the ability to summarize findings and maintain patient records. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as a caring nature.
Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.
Job Duties
Obtains patients' personal information and medical history. Prepares treatment areas for ultrasound examinations and positioning patients on ultrasound tables. Explains ultrasound procedures to patients. Applies non-invasive ultrasound techniques to diagnose blood vein, artery, or vessel diseases or disorders. Makes adjustments to equipment to produce high-quality ultrasound images for doctors to interpret. Compares patients’ most recent scans to previous results and assessing diagnostic information. Prepares and provides summarized ultrasound findings to doctors in a timeous manner. Completes Quality Assurance for Lab Accreditation. Transfers Images for Surgeons from Ultrasound to EMR system. Handles hazardous substances and biological waste as prescribed, as well as sterilizing equipment. Documents processes and maintaining patient records. Keeps informed of advancements in vascular technology.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education: Accredited Ultrasound Vascular program and High School Diploma
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in vascular technology
Minimum Experience: 1 year experience as a vascular technologist

Required License: State- licensed Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
Preferred License: Not Applicable
Required Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Certification: Not Applicable
