Description
Facilities maintenance is responsible for performing a broad range of duties in relation to the repair and general maintenance of facilities, buildings, and equipment.
 
Observe, report, and perform the needs for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures. Facility repairs & maintenance including but not limited to changing light fixtures & ballasts, patch & paint, tile work, light plumbing, light electrical. Perform handy person duties including but not limited to installation of whiteboards & corkboards, hanging pictures, removal & installation of keyboard trays, and minor furniture rearrangement & repair. Maintain and support security efforts and badge allocation for the site. Maintain and support safety/environmental compliance, policies, and procedures for the site. Lab infrastructure support and coordination. Work with outside vendors as necessary – i.e. electricians, plumbers, etc. Assist Shipping & Receiving department as needed. Minor custodial services as needed. Internal movement of packages, boxes, and furniture. Ad Hoc project work as required. Comfortable working independently in a high performing and fast-paced organization. Weekends and on call availability. Ability to be on call and reachable via company provided cell phone required. Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and major repairs on the equipment of the facility. Completes 91-95% of assigned scheduled preventive maintenance within prescribed period. Responds to indoor air quality complaints and adjusts as necessary to various air conditioning controls in patient care and common areas throughout the facility. Calibrate and adjust all types of thermostats, troubleshoot heating and cooling controls and the ability to identify the proper air-handling equipment for servicing a particular area of the facility. Repairs and maintains furniture, beds, structure, walls, and other elements of the facility. Install various types of equipment without direct supervision in accordance with plans, procedures, blueprints, or instruction manuals. Works on plumbing systems including hot and cold-water systems and sewage systems. Troubleshoots and repairs or replaces controls, valves, pumps etc. associated with mechanical systems. Follow safety precautions for use of drain cleaning equipment to minimize damage to the facility. Maintains proficiency in all assigned systems in accordance with department standards. Provides documentation for supervisor review of completed repairs and preventive maintenance in all disciplines assigned.
 
Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.  Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail).  Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.  Performs other duties as assigned.
