The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial and administrative support to the accounting team in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial operations.

Accounts Payable Roles & Responsibilities

  • Post business transactions, process invoices, verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records
  • Maintain meticulous records of outstanding payables
  • Ensure the accuracy of an organization’s financial documents for payment, auditing and tax purposes
  • Protect businesses against unintentional overpayment
  • Practice effective monitoring to ensure payments are made to vendors in a timely manner
  • Clarify any questionable invoice items, prices or receiving signatures
  • Assemble and review invoices to be completed for payment
  • Maintain copies of vouchers, invoices or correspondence necessary for files
  • Obtain proper information and/or data regarding invoice payments
  • Verify invoices against purchase orders and ensure goods or services were received before issuing payment to vendors.
  • Ensure invoices are coded correctly and post in the period the transaction occurred
  • Other duties as required by management.

Account Payable Essential Skills 

  • Basic Accounting knowledge and Accounts Payable knowledge.
  • Accounts Payable Accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with the CDK program is considered an asset.
  • Good numeracy skills, and sound analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented and organized 
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Good problem solving and computer skills.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal, listening, and written communication skills. 
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Time management and leadership skills.
  • Trustworthy, respectful and able to demonstrate strong work ethic.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimum supervision.

Accounts Payable Educational Requirements

  • A degree is not mandatory
  • An understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting skills is required
  • A degree in the following subjects would be beneficial:
    • Finance or Economics
    • Business Studies
    • Accounting

***This compensation range will be based on knowledge and experience***

Job Type: Full Time - Permanent
Compensation: Starting $45,000 per year
