The Manager, Scientific Communication Research will work with internal stakeholders at Pacira to support the development and maintenance of information for use in the scientific platform and Medical communications materials, for EXPAREL, iovera, and other Pacira products. This role will support the Medical Science team and other Pacira stakeholders by maintaining a comprehensive and up to date library of literature to support scientific messaging across all therapeutic categories for development of medical and commercial materials, including P&T.  Key elements of this role include maintaining a scientific library for medical literature at Pacira, as well as a database of ongoing IITs related to EXPAREL, updating and maintaining the Medical Science Sharepoint site, and updating and maintaining the PACKit website and materials.

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conducting ongoing searches of common databases of the medical and scientific literature (e.g. PubMed, Embase, Google Scholar) to uncover all studies related to EXPAREL and other company products
  • Providing rapid communication of information regarding new publications and studies to internal stakeholders
  • Creating, maintaining, and updating all EndNote databases of literature related to Company products and other topics of interest for internal stakeholders (e.g. HOVA, Medical Information, Clinical, Business Development, Investor Relations, Marketing, Scientific Communications, Medical Affairs)
  • Conducting literature searches on various topics requested by internal stakeholders, including literature reviews required for regulatory submissions and responses to requests for medical information
  • Reading and summarizing articles in EndNote database, including details related to study methods and results, for use in scientific communications materials (presentations, publications, and other reports)
  • Coordinating intelligence on congresses, including development of summaries for relevant presentations, insights on their context, and coordinating a post-congress debrief report for use by medical and commercial stakeholders
  • Maintaining a list of ongoing investigator-initiated research related to EXPAREL from clinical registries such as clinicaltrials.gov for field medical use and coordinating intel on studies provided by the field
  • Providing first-line training and troubleshooting for internal stakeholders on the use of EndNote and other scientific subscriptions (e.g. Embase and Science Direct)
  • Conducting ongoing quality control to identify and address incorrect or incomplete information about studies in EndNote database
  • Ensuring acquisition of full-text journal articles, conference abstracts, reports, and other materials stored in EndNote database
  • Managing sharing of EndNote database with internal stakeholders with sharing feature and use of myendnoteweb.com
  • Managing and updating Medical Science Sharepoint site
  • Assisting in the development and execution of contracts as needed

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in a health-related area (e.g. public health, health economics and outcomes research, epidemiology, library and information science) from accredited college or university.

 Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a research associate or medical librarian in a life sciences, consulting, academic, or other health care setting focused on medical research.

Prior experience in surgical research and pain research is preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in searching, reading, and summarizing the health care literature.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communications skills including ability to communicate about technical data.
  • Excellent working knowledge of EndNote X7, including myendnoteweb.com and library sharing feature.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Proven ability to communicate successfully with constituents at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well across teams and functions
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and organization skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively on a team in an entrepreneurial environment.
