Summary: 
The Associate Director, Device Education is a field-based therapeutic position requiring significant clinical experience. The Associate Director will lead a team of Device Education Managers while managing a defined territory, providing management, coaching, and direction to the team in line with the associated educational strategies.
 
The primary role of the Associate Director is to support the product training needs of HCPs. The Associate Director will provide case support including expert technique training to practicing clinicians within the pain and/or anesthesia therapeutic space, and product and disease state awareness to appropriate support staff. This position will also impact the organization by handling special projects for the Device Education team. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with new hire training, advanced training, reporting, and customer interactions, as well as regional workshops and PITT program coverage.  
  
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned. 
  
  • Provide Management, coaching, mentoring and direction to the Device Education team in supporting the commercial, educational, and training needs of the HCP, both new and long-term customers, including providing additional education in response to HCP requests; sharing of approved provider protocols; facilitating development and implementation of individual and institutional needs/protocol/ERAS/ERP, and appropriate scientific exchange.  
  • Support the product training needs of practicing clinicians within the pain and/or anesthesia therapeutic space in response to unsolicited requests
  • Support the training needs of the Device Education team
  • Support all new clinical education initiatives as assigned by the senior management.
  • Provide case support, including surgical product guidance and support staff education.
  • Facilitate implementation of individual institution needs, and appropriate collection of individual institution or HCP data.
  • Serve as key clinical resource to institutional accounts and their respective healthcare stakeholders.
  • Identify, collect, and communicate insights related to competitor medical information and physician practice trends.
  • Support internal collaborative partners as needed 
  • Successfully complete required therapeutic training and demonstrate competency in communicating information in support of the pain and/or anesthesia area
  • Document interactions and activities in appropriate databases, retaining and submitting required expenses and meeting defined qualitative and quantitative objectives.
  • Successfully comply with all Pacira policies and procedures, principles and values, and applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Position requires extensive travel (up to 70%) as well as weekend work throughout the year.
  
Supervisory Responsibilities:  
This position will supervise a team of Device Education Managers. 
  
  
Interaction: 
The Associate Director may have contact with internal colleagues in compliance, marketing, clinical education, sales, and training. . This internal collaboration is considered a fundamental and essential part of the position. This position will also engage with the broader Medical Affairs division to ensure alignment and collaboration. External collaboration includes trade associations, professional societies, payers, clinicians, policy-thought leaders.  
  
Education and Experience:  
  • Bachelor’s level degree in health or life sciences
  • Minimum 3-5 years clinical experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in perioperative, pain and/or anesthesia therapeutic area preferred
  • Minimum 1 year as a Pacira Clinical Education Manager Medical Device Manager

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with strong business skills/acumen
  • Ability to manage Field-based device education personnel       
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including ability to present to groups of varying sizes.
  • Proven track record of success in interacting with HCPs
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and comprehensively learn about new subject areas and environments and effectively communicate that information.
  • Ability to travel swiftly and frequently (70% travel) with overnight stays. Close proximity to airport- preferred, under 1 hour or 50 miles.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate an understanding of both the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
  • Demonstrated the ability to collaborate with the broader Pacira organization
  • Valid driver’s license in the state in which you reside and safe driving history record, reliable transportation.

The employee is regularly required to travel by automobile as well as by airplane and other forms of public transportation.
