The Director, Global Medical Information, is a headquarters-based role within Global Medical Information and Communications that is responsible for leading without direct authority over a continuum of team colleagues, has prowess to drive collaboration with stakeholders, and exhibits superior product/disease knowledge and medical information process expertise in the three global core functions of the GMI group: Medical Information, Medical/Scientific Review of Promotional Materials, Medical Education and Training of internal stakeholders. The Director, GMI, has an advanced educational background and reports into the Sr. Director GMI&C.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all GMI core functions as they relate to Medical Information, Scientific Review of Promotional Materials, and Medical Education/Training. Assists the Team Lead in resolving escalations of complex issues/challenges by pushing through strategic guidance and solutions to GMI Team. Aids in ensuring that the objectives of the team are achieved for the global core functions.
  • Partners with Sr. Director, GMI, cross-functional teams and stakeholders worldwide, and alliance partners with other pharmaceutical companies to ensure implementation of strategic initiatives for the assigned franchises across deliverables of the GMI Team and to ensure team assets are available with the appropriate content to meet the needs of external customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Has a deep understanding of relevant therapeutic areas, including product knowledge, disease state management, emerging therapies and the competitive landscape. With extensive experience, apply developed depth and breadth of disease, product and process expertise, and help solve unique and complex problems/inquiries specific to the brands within and beyond areas of expertise, across team.
  • Anticipate internal/external business and information needs and regulatory/compliance issues and take leadership role in decision-making and developing cross-functional strategy and tangible solutions within functional, company and industry guidelines.
  • Conduct audits/checks of medical information and promotional content to ensure consistency in approach and deliverables across GMI Team. Assist Sr. Director in conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses and reporting of insights.
  • Mentors newly hired GMI professionals, leads onboarding and training of core functions for entry-level colleagues, and assists Sr. Director in continued development of the team.
  • Engage and collaborate with subject matter experts and relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Helps lead departmental initiatives that impact GMI process improvements and fosters innovation and cross-functional collaborations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree (PhD, PharmD, MD or equivalent) + minimum 7 years prior work experience in Global Medical Information, Medical Review of promotional materials, and/or prior biotech/pharmaceutical experience
  • Experience in providing medical information and promotional review guidance outside the US e.g. EU
  • People management experience or strong track record of mentoring
  • Strong knowledge of clinical trial methodology, statistical concepts, and evaluation and interpretation of complex scientific literature
  • Strong understanding of clinical context of the therapeutic area
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to consolidate and understand complex data sets
  • Strong medical communications and presentation skills
  • Ability to lead in medical information as determined by initiative leadership, innovative ideas, and execution
  • Must be able to plan, prioritize, and work effectively in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time overnights to staff Medical Information Booths at worldwide congresses
  • Clinical Pharmacy experience with patient care exposure
  • Drug Information Residency or equivalent experience
  • Pharmacy Licensure preferred
  • Proven leadership and influence/negotiation skills for interaction with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate strategy into action plans
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and systems for Medical Information and Promotional Review
