Sr. Cost Accountant, CMO
Description
The Sr. Cost Accountant will be responsible for CMO site accounting including cost and inventory accounting, fixed assets, departmental accruals, and monthly close activities. This position will provide timely, accurate and relevant financial information and ensure insights are provided to the business.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform CMO monthly product costing and inventory accounting close including but not limited to:
- Prepare month-end journal entries and account reconciliations for inventory
- Determine inventory reserves and document conclusions
- Prepare balance sheet analytics for appropriate accounts
- Prepare documentation including trends, variance analysis, spend by department, and analysis of budget versus actual
- Prepare detailed margin analytics, product costs and key performance indicators with explanations of business drivers
- Timely report on manufacturing variances including material, labor and overhead variances and product costing actual versus forecast
- Interact with external and internal auditors, prepare, and provide documentation for annual audits and SOX
- Perform CMO product costing and inventory accounting including but not limited to:
- Standard cost development
- Annual inventory counts
- Implement any necessary system changes related to inventory sub-ledger
- Subject matter expert for general ledger costing and inventory
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure proper set up in system (Store codes, BOM, Part ID's, etc.)
- Develop and document policies and procedures for monthly inventory system close
- Serve as the Finance liaison with CMO and Pacira management
- Review bill-backs from our contract manufacturer(s)
- Facilitate dispute resolutions
- Train the business on financial inventory policies and procedures
- Provide support on business decisions by performing financial analysis
- Maintain and Monitor inventory intercompany process, which includes maintaining transfer prices for intercompany sales, monitoring inventory activity to ensure proper elimination of intercompany transactions, and preparing eliminations entries as necessary
- Participate in the annual audit and inventory counts, ensuring adherence to finance and accounting policies consistent with GAAP and SEC requirements and compliance with SOX 404 standards
- Other ad hoc analysis / projects as deemed appropriate
No supervisory responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance from accredited college or university, CPA, or MBA a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience in Finance or Accounting, including cost accounting experience
- Process Manufacturing and/or Pharmaceuticals is a plus
- General accounting principles and the preparation and implementation of accounting policies, systems, and procedures
- GAAP and SOX with an understanding of internal accounting controls and preparing and implementing accounting controls and procedures
- Cost and Inventory Accounting
- Demonstrated analytical abilities
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility regarding working hours to allow for UK time differences
