The Manager, Medical Information will be responsible for providing accurate, timely, fair-balanced medical information in response to medical inquiries from external customers (healthcare professionals and consumers) as well as internal customers (corporate, medical, and commercial teams) working alongside the medical communications team. He/she will ensure compliance with all relevant SOPs, and FDA regs/guidances, adverse event and product complaint handling and become an expert in our products and corresponding therapeutic area.


The Manager will update and create materials and response documents as needed after conducting a literature search, and choose appropriate information for inclusion, will assist in medical, legal, and regulatory review of submissions, and will coordinate with the medical information vendor as needed.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops, updates and reviews relevant, unbiased medical information response documents and product profiles that are provided to customers and ensures content represents the most current, complete, medically accurate, evidence-based and scientifically balanced information.
  • Utilizes the appropriate information resources to identify published literature and respond to medical information inquiries from healthcare professionals, consumers, and internal business partners verbally and/or in writing; prepares customized responses as needed
  • Proactively develop and/or create medical response documents as well as revise and/or update existing documents in the database.
  • Critically evaluate published medical and scientific literature on Pacira products and competitive products; review internal/external literature to stay abreast of med/market trends and provide the appropriate training to Pacira colleagues.
  • Proficiently communicate information gathered and researched from various sources to appropriate internal functions and roles.
  • Contributes to MI planning and preparation activities for new product launches, line extensions, and key data releases,
  • Develop and execute internal and MICC product, state and medical content documents training disease to ensure Pacira personnel are equipped to handle questions and responses associated with all Pacira products.
  • Serve as liaison between Medical Information vendors and internal business partners including Quality and Pharmacovigilance to oversee AE/PC intake and reconciliation, as well as Marketing to review promotional materials.
  • Communicate information gathered and researched from various sources to appropriate internal functions and roles. Maintain open communication to ensure work across matrix organization.
  • Conduct on-going training to Pacira personnel and speakers as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Pharmacist, or biomedical graduate degree (MS, PharmD or PhD in relevant scientific discipline)
  • At least 2-4 years relevant pharmaceutical industry experience required, fellowship may be included
  • Proven ability to perform in-depth research, analysis and interpretation of medical data and assemble evaluated information into an accurate, comprehensive and concise response document
  • Must have working knowledge of the applicable FDA regulations/guidance
  • Global experience preferred
