Summary:

Indirect Sourcing provides value added procurement expertise throughout the entire supplier life cycle in close collaboration with business partners and suppliers to support company strategy and address business needs. Best in class procurement expertise includes but may not be limited to strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiation of best conditions (price, delivery, service, quality), risk mitigation, process optimization, and management of strategic supplier relationships.

The Senior Manager, Clinical Sourcing is responsible for producing, implementing, and tracking sourcing strategies for goods and services for Clinical, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, and Medical Information. This position ensures execution of sourcing strategies and tactical support with focus on continuous improvement and stellar business support. This role may include management of other key category responsibilities as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Shares and lives the mission of Indirect Sourcing while supporting other Procurement specialists.
  • Develops a strong partnership with Business Partners to align on objectives and timelines
  • Provides sourcing methodology to deliver value to the company in close collaboration with business partners
  • Ensures compliance with Indirect Sourcing processes in close collaboration with leadership
  • Develops and implements Procurement value roadmap by identifying, implementing, and monitoring procurement opportunities with Business partners
  • Ensures Indirect Sourcing objectives & strategies are defined and provides appropriate value to the business
  • Assists in strategic sourcing to identify and selects suitable suppliers and mitigate business risk
  • Reviews contracts for responsible areas of spend and acts as an expert resource for planning and leading negotiations
  • Ensures seamless P2P process with compliance by business partners and constantly strives to improve and streamline processes with other functions such as Finance and Legal
  • Ensures timely execution on all purchasing requests
  • Participates in the management of supplier performance with appropriate KPI’s
  • Delivers procurement value including all agreed upon cost savings and cost avoidance goals
  • Ensures SOX 404 compliance for purchasing processes
  • Actively monitors activity progress and reports achievements and performance to Sourcing leadership

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Process supervision, no immediate direct reports (subject to change)

 

Interactions:

Works closely with Business partners (Clinical, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, and Medical Information, and Other), Sourcing & Procurement team, other shared functions (Legal, Finance, H.R., I.T.), and suppliers.

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in Business, Science, Finance or Operations related field
  • Graduate degree in Business preferred
  • APICS, CPSM, and/or NAPM certificate or other procurement certificates preferred
  • 7+ years of strategic sourcing experience
  • Industry experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, and/or bio technology
  • Experience with indirect goods and services spend in a GxP and GMP environment

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and move between spaces.  Close vision and the need to focus on computer screen, use of hands, fingers and wrist to type on keyboard and manipulate mouse.
