Health Unit Coordinator-Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit- .8 FTE, 8-Hours, Variable Shifts

Description

We are currently seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to work on our inpatient psychiatric unit.  The Psychiatric Unit is a 14 bed acute voluntary unit specializing in crisis intervention for adult patients. Our average length of stay is 3-5 days.

This is a 32-hour work week with hours 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Manages telephone calls from providers, patient families, other units in hospital, and referral sources.
  • Assists patients with making outgoing telephone calls, ordering meals, and other requests.
  • Assists nursing and mental health specialist staff with admissions by preparing charts, placing toiletries in patient rooms, and screening patient belongings for contraband.
  • Works closely with Charge Nurse in assisting with discharges.
  • Orders supplies for unit, faxes documents to a variety of sources, prints daily staffing rosters.
  • Interacts with all hospital departments.
  • Audits unit time cards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications 

  • Healthcare provider CPR Certification required.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills/experience.
  • Organized, flexible, energetic, upbeat work style.
