Overlake Medical Center and Clinics has a great opportunity for a Nurse Manager for our Mother Baby Unit.  This nurse manager has 24-hour responsibility for management of an individual nursing unit(s), such that the delivery of high-quality patient care is assured and designated budgetary parameters are maintained. Works with the Nursing Director and CNS to maximize unit/service line potential and meet service expectations.

Assures delivery of safe, quality patient care through definition and implementation of nursing care standards and unit competencies. Ensures that the provision of care embodies the National Patient Safety Goals and actively participates on the Patient Safety Council.  Evaluates quality of care in collaboration with Clinical Nurse Specialist and Director, using established nursing care standards and evidence based practice, and solicits feedback from patients, families and physician customers through daily rounding on unit and interaction with all customers.

Contributes to the financial stability of the hospital by assisting the Director with development of the budget.  Maintains annual operating budget within prescribed parameters by monitoring daily productivity, supply and other line-item expenses, and assures that hours of care and expenses per unit are at or below budget.  Articulates variance when necessary due to patient acuity or resource skill mix and develops plan to address gaps. Uses financial and productivity tools (FM, Stratacap, API, Solucient) competently with full understanding.

Promotes achievement of hospital goals and objectives by establishing effective collaborative relationships with all key customers.  Elicits cooperation towards goal achievement by demonstrating the Shared Values and  Cultural Beliefs, practicing and promoting effectual communication skills at all times.  Shares hospital goals and objectives with team on a regular basis and participates in the Monthly Line Up program, ensuring that the team stays current and informed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor Science Nursing or Master’s degree preferred.
Professional Licensure/Certification/Registration:  Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington required.  Health Care Provider CPR Certification required.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years clinical nursing experience required.  Minimum of 2 years of prior managerial experience preferred. 
Special Training/Skills: Demonstrated experience with computers, strong verbal and written communication skills.
