Director of Continuous Process Improvement

Serves as the key organizational leader of Overlake’s CPI program and culture.  Responsible for planning, monitoring, mentoring and managing the execution of operational and process improvement initiatives that drive strategically aligned organizational results. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily activities of performance improvement staff, training and mentoring others throughout the organization in lean continuous improvement philosophy, and leading activities that provide more efficient and streamlined workflow at all levels in the healthcare system environment. The Director helps to prioritize, select and charter high-impact projects in conjunction with Executive Leadership. Also maintains the integrity of performance metrics and measurement, and develops, maintains, disseminates, and revises performance improvement training materials in conjunction with outside training resources.


  • Prior experience in healthcare is required 
  • Experience establishing a new CPI department preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree is required. 
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Requires six (6) years of relevant experience, with specific emphasis in: lean transformation, continuous improvement, systems analysis, working with outside consultants, group leadership and facilitation, interpersonal communication, team building.  Previous experience should include a minimum of three years managing direct reports or leading teams. 
  • Black belt certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of and demonstrated experience applying continuous performance improvement concepts.
  • Knowledge of management principles and techniques, problem-solving methodologies and analytic techniques.
  • Ability to lead/provoke the thinking of senior level administrators and medical staff leadership.
  • Strong leadership/mentoring skills applicable to both performance improvement staff and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff across the System.
