Who We Are:

The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for people with disabilities, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, , is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.

 

Position Summary:

The Paralegal reports directly to the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel and plays an important role in supporting the legal, insurance, and operational functions of the GC Office. The focus of this position is coordinating and managing insurance matters and contract review. 


The individual in this role will work closely with internal departments and external insurance brokers to manage insurance coverage and respond to coverage-related inquiries. The individual will also assist with contract review and provide general legal and administrative support to the GC Office.

 

Responsibilities:

Insurance Administration and Coordination

  • Serve as the primary internal coordinator for insurance questions and insurance matters.
  • Track and maintain records of OU insurance policies, including coverage details, policy periods, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with the annual insurance renewal process.
  • Review contracts to identify insurance requirements and ensure appropriate coverage is in place.

Legal and Administrative Support

  • Assist with drafting and reviewing contracts, including using AI-powered software tools.
  • Gather documentation and background information for legal matters.
  • Support the preparation of legal documents, correspondence, and internal reports.
  • Assist with preparing presentations, training materials, and educational resources related to legal or insurance topics.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Paralegal certificate from an accredited program preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience working as a paralegal or in a similar role preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience working with insurance documentation, such as certificates of insurance, policy documentation, or renewals, preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and CLM
  • Ability to present oneself in a professional and polished manner to internal and external stakeholders

 

Salary & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $60,000- $75,000, commensurate with experience.
