SUMMARY:
The Budget Director/Divisional Controller is responsible for overseeing financial functions relating to the international NCSY division of the Orthodox Union. The position will be instrumental in preparing, analyzing, tracking, and projecting financial information and will be part of the OU Finance team while being a trusted resource and advisor to NCSY leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- As the key member of the Finance team responsible for the NCSY division, contribute toward its goals of ensuring accurate and timely financial records, providing credible financial advice, and assisting NCSY leadership in the development of appropriate strategies for NCSY
- The Divisional Controller will be an important contributing member of the NCSY leadership team and will be responsible to provide regular financial updates and reports relating to the financial results of NCSY National, NCSY Regions and NCSY Summer programs
- Analyze and review all of NCSY’s monthly results against budget, (both nationally and the regions) in as close to real-time as possible
- Work closely with NCSY Summer (a $20 million+ department of NCSY) on all matters of financial planning including: budget management, revenue recognition, and closing the books in an efficient and timely manner
- Prepare projections and track results of significant national programs against projections.
- Prepare initial budget reports for NCSY’s senior management and work in tandem with NCSY senior management to refine and present an annual budget to the OU’s senior management and lay leadership.
- Involvement in implementation of new ERP system and ensuring smooth transition from QuickBooks to new system (likely NetSuite) as well as being an integral part of the effort to move towards centralization of the NCSY finance function.
- Assist programs with formal grant requests and donor solicitations by compiling financial information and reports.
- Identify opportunities to control costs and operate more efficiently (structurally or otherwise)
- Proactively identify areas with inefficiencies and work to streamline financial processes, reporting, and activities. This includes evaluating existing reports and systems and making recommendations as to improvements to better streamline reporting and information flow.
- Partner with and develop strong relationships with other functional teams across the organization.
- Provide ongoing support and advice to NCSY senior leadership and 12 regional directors regarding best practices for financial activities and budgeting.
- Work with each region’s administrative staff and regional director to ensure timely and accurate submission of local financial activity.
- Manage a growing team, keeping staff accountable for action items while fostering a positive culture.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years’ experience in accounting or finance
- 5+ years’ experience in a senior financial position, e.g; Controller
- Previous experience managing staff
- Experience using EPR systems (NetSuite experience a plus)
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The salary range for this position is between $150,000 and $175,000, commensurate
with experience.
