Who We Are:

Yachad, a division of The Orthodox Union, the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish organization‚ supports individuals with intellectual, developmental, and learning disabilities. Yachad helps these individuals participate more fully in Jewish life and the broader society by providing educational, employment, and relationship opportunities.

The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, , is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.

 

Position Summary:

The Program Director will be part of the leadership team in NE and help shape the future of programs and services in the NE region.  Working under the direction and support of the Director of Yachad NE, the program director will help create and implement social programs that support individuals with disabilities and their families.  Our goal will be to deliver meaningful programs and services to those who need our help, with a mindset of growth.

This position requires knowledge of program development and knowledge of the community.  Part of the focus will be on ensuring that the region is strategically growing in current and new areas to best serve the special needs community with an emphasis on working with individuals with disabilities and providing inclusive opportunities to socialize with peers.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead outreach to new Yachad participants in the community
  • Oversee daily programming at the Yachad New England Community Center, with a primary focus on managing and staffing the daily lounge and support groups. This includes a schedule of Sunday–Thursday programming, approximately three evening events per week, two Sundays per month, all Shabbatonim (3–4 annually), and a monthly community program.
  • Lead intake of new participants and assist with membership registration 
  • Maintains members accounts in Yachad’s database (MARS)
  • Main point of contact for parents/ group homes
  • Work with local Yachad Coordinators to ensure events are well-staffed and relevant information is entered into the database
  • Coordinate 1-2 weekly programs
  • Coordinate summer programming
  • Assists with overall programming needs as determined by the supervisor
  • Coordinate shabbatonim (details to be determined)
  • Be part of Yachad NE special projects
  • Execute community engagement activities that bring Yachad into the community.
  • Be a mentor for student interns and supervise some staff members.
  • Run school club visits
  • Administrative responsibilities include record keeping, budgeting, expense tracking, and collaborating on writing grant reports.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to the mission of Yachad and a passion for supporting Jewish individuals with disabilities
  • Well-versed in Jewish values and beliefs 
  • Experience in program development
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Creative and organized
  • Able to work independently

 

Salary & Benefits:

The salary range for this (full-time) position is $55,000 - $63,000, commensurate with experience.
