Position Available:Maintenance Operations Control Duty Manager (MOC-DM)  

Position Status:Full-time; Permanent  

Location:5310 Explorer Drive, Mississauga, Ontario (Hybrid)  

Reporting To:            Maintenance Planning and Analysis Manager

   

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Operations Control Duty Manager (MOC) is a duty management position within the Aviation Maintenance department reporting to the Maintenance Planning and Analysis Manager. The MOC’s primary responsibility will be to effectively manage and monitor the day-to-day aircraft Rotor Wing and Fixed Wing fleet maintenance requirements, ensuring that both technical dispatch and operational requirements are met.  The MOC will be a central point of contact for all day-to-day operational maintenance issues.  This position will operate in a 24/7 capacity to ensure that there is continuous coverage that monitors all communication systems, including but not limited to email, phone, and MS Teams with the ability to provide immediate technical and AOG management assistance to aircraft both on the ground and in-flight.  

   

This position will be located at the Head Office in Mississauga with the opportunity to work remotely.    

MOC Duty Manager’s will be required to work various shifts and overtime, including day and night shifts and weekends in a 24/7 environment on a rotational schedule.  

   

Responsibilities:

Daily Operations:  

  • Acting as a point of contact with the respective fleet’s Chief Engineer or delegate to provide technical and AOG management assistance to maintenance, flight crews and operations personnel.  The includes coordinating with the appropriate company personnel or approved vendors to move parts, tooling and appropriately qualified personnel at the aircraft location to conduct repairs;
  • Continuous monitoring of all internal communication methods including phone, email and MS Teams for aircraft maintenance operational issues;
  • Provide support for troubleshooting efforts, including repetitive defects for the Fixed Wing and Rotor Wing fleet operations, coordinating with the respective Chief Engineer for the scheduling of aircrafts, research and requisitioning of parts, as well as ensuring crew availability for the rectification of open defects;
  • Identify, evaluate and prioritize short-term faults that may potentially impact the company’s operational fleet availability;
  • Coordinate and communicate maintenance-related requirements with the Chief Engineers, OCC staff, Central Scheduling Department, Flight Operations and manufacturer’s representatives.
  • Provide daily report of aircraft serviceability, operational delays and incidents from the previous day’s operations for the ‘Day of Ops’ meetings;
  • Monitor Maintenance Support requests and assist or delegate as appropriate (includes reported issues with the Digital Maintenance Tracking System);
  • Coordinate with the Director of Maintenance, Quality Assurance Manager, Chief Engineers, Operations Manager, Central Scheduling and Travel as appropriate to provide support when a Special Purpose Flight Permit is issued;
  • Monitor and update status of aircrafts in the Flight Operations tracking system;
  • Liaise with Base Engineers/Leads for shift-end/handover reports to ensure a smooth and seamless work transition with the incoming shift lead;
  • Monitor and review defects to identify recurring defects and SMS (SDR) reporting opportunities;
  • Central point of contact for the application and authorization of deferrals/MEL items.

Planning:   

  • Monitor aircraft times and coming due reports and coordinate short-term maintenance activities with the OCC Duty Manager and Central Scheduling to minimize the impact on operations by avoiding downgrading multiple bases in the same geographical area;
  • Prepare long-term heavy check and component replacement forecasts; 
  • Build work packages (work orders) in the computerized maintenance tracking system;
  • Coordinate with the appropriate company personnel or approved vendors to move parts, tooling and appropriately qualified personnel at the aircraft location to carry out the required work;
  • Monitor work progress and report any delays in return to service to the operation;
  • Monitor Quarantine Stores and related defects for ‘Hold for Troubleshooting’ parts and determine the disposition of affected parts (Ship or Shelf);
  • Plan and prepare work orders for internally repaired components based on operational/planned aircraft maintenance requirements;
  • Provide continuous tracking of MEL deferred defects, to ensure troubleshooting and corrective actions are accomplished expeditiously and within approved time limits;
  • Review work packages for completeness ensuring planned work is accomplished to minimize the impact on operations; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

   

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ industry experience on Normal and/or Transport category aircraft;
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a supervisory capacity, previous supervisory experience is preferred;
  • Must hold a current and valid Transport Canada AME (M1/M2 or E Category) License;
  • A valid Canadian Passport or ability to work in Canada and ability to travel to the USA;
  • Must have a valid Canadian G Level Driver’s License;
  • PC12 and/or AW139 type certification is preferred;
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high demand environment and make decisions under tight time constrains;
  • Must have an in depth knowledge of aircraft systems and maintenance procedures;
  • Possess strong leadership qualities, capable of providing instructions and delegating work;
  • Demonstrates excellence in written and verbal communication skills;
  • Sound organizational and planning skills with the ability to multi-task and effectively resolve conflicting deadlines;
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office suite;
  • Highly organized, able to work independently and detail-focused and works well in deadline-driven environment;
  • Proven ability to identify and implement improvements to processes and increase efficiency; and
  • A criminal record search is a requirement for this position.
