As the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis, you’ll oversee a team of five skilled finance professionals, guiding them through complex planning cycles, reporting requirements, and strategic initiatives. Key Accountabilities:
- Lead Strategic Financial Planning: Oversee the development of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and multi-year financial plans in close collaboration with department managers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Executive-Level Financial Reporting: Present financial results, funding requirements, and strategic insights to senior leadership, the Board, and the Ministry of Health (MOH), demonstrating strong executive presence and communication skills.
- Advanced Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth variance analysis, identify financial risks and opportunities, and deliver actionable recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor a high-performing team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
- Strategic Support & Modeling: Provide financial modeling, cost-benefit analysis, and scenario planning to support key organizational initiatives and long-term strategy.
- Process Optimization & Automation: Champion the automation of financial processes and the optimization of financial systems and tools to enhance efficiency and data integrity.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including procurement, legal, and MOH representatives, ensuring alignment and compliance.
- Regulatory & Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to accounting standards (PSAS, ASPE, IFRS), internal financial policies, and collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
- Trusted Financial Advisor: Act as a strategic partner to executives, translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that drive organizational success.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a CPA designation (CMA, CGA, CA) is required.
- MBA or CFA is a strong asset.
- 5–6 years of progressive experience in a leadership role within financial planning, analysis, reporting, and budgeting.
- Proven leadership experience managing a team of finance professionals, with a focus on mentorship, collaboration, and performance.
- Deep understanding of accounting principles and financial frameworks.
- Strong technical skills with IBM Cognos (super user preferred) or similar budgeting software; SAP experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills—able to engage and influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience in public or private sector financial management, including budgeting and reporting.
- Demonstrated success in process automation and system optimization, with a continuous improvement mindset.
