The CCIS Educator serves as a provincial subject matter expert for the Critical Care Information System (CCIS). This role is responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining high-quality education and training programs to support effective system use, data quality, and awareness of the importance of the CCIS to Ontario’s health care system.
Working collaboratively with CritiCall Ontario staff and provincial stakeholders, the CCIS Educator plays a key role in optimizing CCIS utilization, supporting system enhancements, and strengthening data-driven decision-making across neonatal, pediatric, and adult critical care environments.
Key Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and deliver CCIS education and training programs (virtual and in-person) for hospitals, Ontario Health, and provincial stakeholders
- Create, update, and maintain CCIS training materials, user guides, SOPs, and education documentation to reflect system enhancements and privacy requirements
- Provide scheduled and ad hoc training support, respond to stakeholder inquiries, and assess educational gaps or system issues
- Support provincial data quality initiatives by monitoring compliance, identifying trends, and advising stakeholders on best practices for CCIS data entry and reporting
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and external partners to support system enhancements, onboarding, and continuous improvement
- Participate in CCIS Operations Committee and working group meetings, contributing expertise to planning, evaluation, and quality initiatives
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Health Sciences or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Nursing background or recent critical care clinical experience preferred
- Knowledge of, or experience with, CCIS or comparable healthcare information systems
- Adult education or training certification considered an asset
- Strong presentation, facilitation, writing, and communication skills
- Advanced computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; database systems)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data quality and continuous improvement
- Ability to build effective relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation for occasional provincial travel
