The Instructional Design / E‑Learning Specialist plays a key role in the design and development of high-quality digital learning experiences that support clinical education and organizational performance. Reporting to the Manager, Program Design and Evaluation, this role works primarily alongside the Program Leads within the Clinical Affairs department, with a strong focus on the Clinical Professional Development and Initial Education portfolios.
In collaboration with Program Leads and subject matter experts, the specialist will design and build engaging, evidence-informed learning content that supports both portfolios, ensuring alignment with adult learning principles and educational best practices. The role also contributes to a variety of clinical-related education projects, as assigned, supporting evolving program and organizational needs.
This is a highly collaborative, technical, and creative role that requires expertise in instructional design, e-learning development, and learning technologies. The successful candidate will develop pedagogically sound, visually compelling, and outcome-focused digital learning solutions that are seamlessly delivered through the Learning Management System (LMS), directly influencing the quality and effectiveness of clinical education across the organization.
Key Accountabilities:
Content Development & Instructional Design
- Design and develop high‑impact e‑learning modules, videos, animations, job aids, quick reference guides, and other digital learning materials.
- Apply strong adult learning principles, instructional design models, and evidence‑based learning strategies to support learner success.
- Analyze learning needs with subject matter experts and translate them into measurable learning outcomes and effective instructional solutions.
- Recommend the most appropriate learning strategies, formats, and technologies to meet training goals.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with internal teams to ensure training solutions reflect organizational priorities and user needs.
- Integrate stakeholder feedback to improve the design, usability, and impact of learning products.
- Provide recommendations to leadership on digital learning tools, platforms, and emerging technologies.
Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with educators and evaluators to embed assessment methods within learning solutions.
- Analyze feedback and performance data to identify improvements and enhance instructional effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- College diploma or certificate in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Learning, or related field is required.
- A university degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, or similar discipline would be considered an asset.
- A minimum of 3–4 years of experience in instructional design or e‑learning development.
- Demonstrated expertise in adult learning principles and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
- Developing interactive digital learning modules using e‑learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Camtasia, Canva).
- Strong technical expertise in designing and building e‑learning modules using authoring software, multimedia tools, and web‑based learning platforms.
- Advanced understanding of adult learning principles and best practices in online learning design.
- Proficiency with learning and development software, including e-learning authoring tools, video editing applications, graphic creation tools, and LMS platforms.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and troubleshoot software issues.
- Familiarity with web technologies, content standards, and digital asset management.
