About the Job  

Reporting to the Group Product Manager, this Product Manager role gives you the opportunity to define and execute against our structured learning vision for Certifications, which includes partnership opportunities, multimodal instructional content, and interactive assessments. You will build your Certification strategy by developing hypotheses, evaluating data, analyzing market and competitive trends, testing ideas in the market, iterating, and ultimately making product decisions based on evidence and insights. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will identify opportunities to expand and deepen our Certifications portfolio. In this role, you will combine passion for the learning experience with keen business insights to deliver today’s most valuable skills and a clear path to obtain and evidence those skills. You are an integrator capable of rallying a cross-functional team behind a common goal. You are highly motivated, have a strong business acumen, and are comfortable being accountable for all facets of the Certifications business.  

Job Details  

As Product Manager, you will:  

  • Develop the identity of O’Reilly’s Certification portfolio using O’Reilly’s operating principles to deliver on a set of key learning promises  
  • Advocate for Certifications against a corporate roadmap  
  • Use skills as an integrator to inform and influence cross-functional teams to deliver Certifications vision 
  • Facilitate negotiations between stakeholders to deliver the right value at the right time 
  • Develop mastery of the Certifications marketplace using internal and external data sources to identify emerging needs, partnership opportunities, and business priorities 
  • Gain deep understanding - and empathy - for all Certification learner personas 
  • Develop strong relationship with Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Data and Research to capture the Voice of the Customer
  • Garner trust from cross-functional partners by owning the Certifications strategy, delivering on time and within scope, measuring KPIs, and refining quickly 
  • Use your expertise of agile development to break down years-long strategies into specific, actionable steps based on business priorities and constraints 
  • Simultaneously manage both short and long-terms visions and execution strategies for Certifications 
  • Identify KPIs to measure the success of strategic plans. Track progress towards these goals and make iterative adjustments to them based on market feedback. 
  • Develop relationships with new and existing accounts, our partner network, and form a deep connection with our user community to provide insights that reveal new opportunities to expand our learning experiences.

  • You measure KPIs and constantly refine your strategy based on the results  
  • You establish best practices to guide strategy, launch decisions, and quality management and you share these within the organization  

Minimum Qualifications  
  • 3+ years of Product Management experience  
  • Demonstrated success in returning business growth, either through increased revenue, units, learner engagement or outcomes 
  • Strong familiarity with SaaS operational processes and enterprise structure 
  • Familiarity with basic principles of learning science 
  • Ability to manage difficult relationships, work with internal and external stakeholders, and manage expectations through clear communication and reliable follow-through 
  • Ability to represent business or technical matters across stakeholders and externally to partners and customers.  
  • Deep understanding of data analytics, research methodologies, and educational & career technology metrics  
  • Experience managing product through the entire lifecycle - from ideation to go-to-market, preferably using agile processes 
  • Experience advocating for a portfolio strategy against corporate roadmap 
  • Demonstrated success in rallying a cross-functional team toward a single vision 
  • Basic working knowledge of scrum development methods required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience. 
  • Interest and awareness of the latest developer trends and technologies preferred.
