What you’ll be working on

In this role you will be working within our multidisciplinary hardware team and taking the lead on developing future changes to our products, playing a critical role in bringing innovative concepts to life. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future of sports technology and make a significant impact in designing products that empower athletes worldwide.

Your day-to-day

  • Design, develop, and enhance product enclosures while considering factors such as aesthetics, ergonomics, manufacturability, and assembly.
  • Utilise 3D modelling software (such as Onshape, SolidWorks, or similar tools) to create detailed designs, prototypes, and visualisations of products.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and ensure compliance with industry safety standards, regulations, and certifications throughout the product design process.
  • Prioritise user-centric design principles to create products that are intuitive, user-friendly, and enhance the overall athlete experience.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electronic engineers, and firmware developers, to integrate design elements seamlessly into the overall product development process.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate design concepts to ensure technical feasibility and scalability.
  • Design and create testing jigs, fixtures, and tooling to support internal testing processes and facilitate efficient quality control.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in design engineering, materials, manufacturing processes, and emerging technologies relevant to sports technology products.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure successful production and assembly of designed components and enclosures.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and suggestions to enhance product performance, aesthetics, and usability.

You should apply if

  • Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in design engineering, with a focus on product development and enclosure design.
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling software, such as Onshape, SolidWorks or similar tools, and experience with creating detailed design documentation.
  • Strong understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles to ensure efficient production and assembly processes.
  • Experience in prototyping and rapid iteration processes (3D printing) to validate and refine design concepts.
  • Knowledge of materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes relevant to plastic injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, and other common production methods.
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards, regulations, and certifications relevant to consumer electronics or wearable technology products.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, collaborating with engineers and designers from various disciplines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical design solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.

Even better if you have:

  • Hands-on workshop skills.
  • CAM processes.
  • Knowledge of thermoforming techniques (vacuum and pressure forming).
  • Experience working in a dental office or dental manufacturing environment.
  • Basic electronics knowledge (circuitry, electronic components, wiring principles).
  • passion for sports and athletics.

Pay range: £44,000 to £62,000 annually
