Position overview:
Optimas is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Inventory Associate to join the team at our new Wynyard facility.
This role will report to the Warehouse Manager/Team leader.
Role Purpose:
For the role of Inventory Associate you will be responsible for ensuring that you carry out regular perpetual counting of stock items and updating of the warehouse management system to align them with physical product.
The role is required to carry out investigations into discrepancies between physical stock and system records to establish root causes that can be escalated to the management team for appropriate follow up and preventative action.
The role requires the individual to have a high level of competency with the warehouse management system in order to resolve operational queries and carry out effective investigations into stock discrepancies. Updating of Spreadsheets and reports is required as well as the completion of Inventory related documents that are used to manage issues or to record information for future reference. The goal is to ensure that all business operations have adequate material to achieve their objectives.
Hours of work: 8 hours shift within a 24-hour period with one weeks’ notice of shift change if required to meet customer requirements.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Execution of the Perpetual Inventory counting and auditing process
- Responsible for accurate counting and maintenance of stock to align with our Warehouse Management System.
- Carry out investigations into stock discrepancies
- Inventory adjustments including Material Discrepancies, Part Number transfers, Block Audit and Cycle Count adjustments.
- Carry out ad-hock stock counts as required, reporting completion and results
- Updating spreadsheets to capture stock accuracy and progress.
- Ensure issues are captured in to allow for effective communication to the relevant department to drive improvement
- Collation and population of the relevant KPI data as required
- Filing of paperwork in the appropriate folder or storage area
- Close liaison with other disciplines within the organisation, as well as other departments including Warehouse, Goods in, Quality, Sales and Supply chain teams
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained on an ongoing basis and actively promote individual responsibility for health and safety
- Follow standard operating procedures and actively pursue the elimination of waste through the application of continuous improvement
- Assisting other departments when required in the case of absence
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
- Detailed working understanding of warehouse departments associated up and downstream processes
- Applicants to be numerate, good communicators, IT literate with experience of using Warehousing Management Systems and Microsoft Excel
- Previous experience within the warehouse and distribution will be an advantage
- Ability to use MHE equipment, licenses for VNA and CB fork trucks are desirable. Additional training will be provided if required
