Position overview:
The Senior Buyer – Tooling is responsible for identifying required tools, negotiating pricing, purchasing tools, ensuring on time delivery, and resolving quality issues.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Identifying Required Tools: Utilize demand reports, requisitions, and inventory min/max system to identify tools which must be purchased and when tooling is required.
- Negotiating Pricing: Work with multiple sources to ensure best price/value position, inclusive of quantity buy opportunities if allowed within inventory guidelines.
- Purchasing Tools: Placement, management, and receiving of purchase orders.
- Ensuring on Time Delivery: Management of purchase orders to ensure on-time or expedited delivery requirements are met.
- Resolving Quality Issues: Management of quality issues with suppliers in collaboration with the Quality Department.
- Achievement of purchasing metrics in the following areas:
- Supplier On Time Delivery
- Supplier Quality
- Cost Management
- Inventory Management
- Management of IAFT-16949 requirements.
- Management of ISO-14001 requirements.
- Development of collaborative work relationships across functions and divisions.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Cross trained to support wire purchasing function.
- Cross trained to support washer purchasing function.
- Cross trained to support outside process purchasing function.
- Cross trained to support MRO purchasing function.
Key Competencies:
The ideal candidate must have the following competencies:
- Extensive knowledge of tooling. Experience with cold forming tools is a significant advantage.
- Experience with MRP/ERP software.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with IATF-16949.
- Experience with ISO-14001.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with awareness of deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines with internal and external resources.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with tools.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in purchasing.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with MRP/ERP software.
Education:
- High school degree.
