Company Overview
We are a publicly-traded program administrator seeking an experienced actuary to join our leadership team. In this high-impact role, you will provide strategic direction for our reserving function while collaborating closely with senior management, the Board of Directors, and our insurance company partners.
Position Summary
The Senior Vice President, Lead Reserving Actuary will lead the design, execution, and ongoing refinement of models used to develop premium and loss reserve estimates for the company. These models play a critical role in informing strategic decisions across the organization. The position demands exceptional technical expertise grounded in actuarial fundamentals, along with advanced modeling capabilities to address the complexity of a long-duration product operating in a rapidly evolving environment. This role requires outstanding communication skills to effectively translate complex actuarial concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver comprehensive quarterly reserve opinions for presentation to senior management and the Board of Directors
- Serve as the primary actuarial representative in discussions with external audit firms, clearly explaining methodologies and findings
- Collaborate with the underwriting and pricing actuarial team to align reserving insights with business strategy and product development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance company partners, providing transparent communication on reserve positions
- Lead and mentor a team of reserving actuaries, fostering professional development and technical excellence
- Evaluate and enhance reserving methodologies and processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance
- Provide expert guidance on loss reserve risk and uncertainty to support enterprise risk management initiatives
Qualifications
- ACAS or FCAS designation required
- Minimum 15 years of actuarial experience, including at least 5 years specifically in a reserving role
- Demonstrated experience presenting to executive leadership and boards of directors
- Experience working with external auditors on reserve reviews
