Jira Developer
Description
Onset Technologies is seeking a Jira Developer to support and enhance the Atlassian Jira Cloud environment for our direct client, the Texas Education Agency. The role focuses on maintaining, optimizing, and expanding Jira Software and Jira IT Service Management. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in JQL, Jira administration, automation, and custom integrations, with experience in Jira on-premise to cloud migration as a plus. The developer will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable Jira solutions and ensure smooth operations across the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and maintain Jira Software and Jira ITSM projects in the Atlassian Cloud environment.
- Develop and optimize JQL queries, workflows, automations, and permissions to support business operations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver scalable Jira solutions.
- Utilize Jira REST APIs and scripting (HTML/JavaScript) for customizations and integrations.
- Manage and optimize key plugins such as ScriptRunner, JMWE, Email This Issue, and Extension for Jira Service Desk.
- Provide clear, well-structured documentation and communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of experience managing Jira Software and ITSM projects, including workflows, permissions, and automations.
- 5+ years of expert-level proficiency in JQL (Jira Query Language) for building complex queries.
- 5+ years of experience using Jira REST APIs and scripting languages for custom integrations and enhancements.
- Strong Jira Cloud administration and development experience.
- Hands-on experience with plugins such as ScriptRunner, JMWE, and Email This Issue.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with Jira on-premise to cloud migration, including workflows and data migration.
- Familiarity with Atlassian Access and a basic understanding of Active Directory and access controls.
- Advanced knowledge of Jira ITSM configuration.
- Proficiency in HTML and JavaScript for custom development.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (CEFR C2 or equivalent).
