Acumentrics seeks an experienced Senior Buyer responsible for procurement and planning of supplier components and fabricated assemblies required for the company's manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Senior Buyer will work closely with various departments (e.g., manufacturing, finance, and logistics) to meet the company's purchasing needs while ensuring high standards of quality and compliance with company policies and legal regulations. The Senior Buyer will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the company's supply chain operations. This position requires a deep understanding of market trends, supplier relationships, and negotiation strategies to ensure the best value for the organization. Strong decision-making skills, attention to detail, and the ability to think strategically are essential for success in this role.
Senior Buyer Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 – 7+ years of procurement/purchasing experience, preferably in a senior or lead role within electronics manufacturing or a similar industry; experience with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) defense related products is a plus
- Proven track record in contract negotiation and supplier relationship management
- Experience with sourcing, vendor evaluations, and complex procurement processes
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Adaptable team player who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments
- In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices and supply chain processes
- Knowledge of market trends, pricing strategies, and product sourcing
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident due to ITAR regulations
Note: Occasional travel to supplier sites or industry events may be required. Flexible working hours may be needed to coordinate with suppliers across time zones.

Senior Buyer Job Responsibilities
Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Identify, evaluate, and build lasting relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors
- Negotiate favorable pricing, lead times, and payment terms without compromising quality
- Nurture supplier partnerships to ensure supply continuity and long-term value
Procurement Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with operational and business goals
- Collaborate with production, R&D, and finance to forecast needs and maintain optimal stock levels
- Analyze market trends and supplier performance to uncover cost-saving and risk mitigation opportunities
Contract & Negotiation Management
- Negotiate and finalize vendor contracts ensuring compliance, quality standards, and appropriate performance terms
- Serve as Lead Buyer in ISO audits
Inventory & Budget Management
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure availability without overstocking
- Manage purchasing budgets and implement cost-reduction initiatives that protect quality and availability
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with legal and environmental regulations throughout the procurement process
- Develop contingency plans to address supply chain disruptions, pricing volatility, and supplier performance risks
Reporting & Team Leadership
- Prepare and present procurement reports on cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory levels to senior management
- Mentor junior buyers on sourcing, negotiations, and procurement best practices
- Partner cross-functionally to resolve product availability, quality, and delivery issues
